Apple today released iTunes 7.1 which supports a new full screen Cover Flow and improved sorting options to let you decide how iTunes should sort your favorite artists, albums, and songs.
iTunes 7.1 is available via Software Update and also as standalone installers:
• iTunes 7.1 for Mac (28MB): System Requirements: Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later
• iTunes 7.1 for Windows (36.1MB): System Requirements: Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4
Vista support is conspicuously absent.

Mmmm, spicy! Two weeks till Apple TV. I can’t wait!
MDN Magic Word: “However” as in “However, there is nothing new on the Zune front. And that is a good thing.”
AppleWorks is snappier.

Big Bang Board Games is snappier.
Vista is Zunier….
Brightened up my day no end. I should get a life. Anyone got one for sale?
My snappin’ kitty is snappier.
Not true about the lack of Vista Support. I just ran the ‘Apple Software Update’ on my work XP laptop and it says in the comments field for the iTunes update that it resolves Vista incompatibilities. Good, that’s more than MS could do!
They’d better get QT support out for Vista or they’ll lose out to media player again.
My C++ GUI programming guide is GUI-er.
I was at two LA big electronics stores this weekend and they had aisles of iPods and accessories and one little space for Zune items.
All covered with dust and just plain pathetic.
Zune Wang must be happy with his pals in Redmond.

I agree with MDN’s take, where’s Vista support?
All my movies I’ve copied into iTunes from my DVD’s are placed in alphabetical order, but I’d like to create them catagories, why can’t this feature be added now that people are going to be be adding a lot of movies to watch on apple TV.
Just updated…
Works fine, except when I go into full screen coverflow mode, there is a thin black diagonal line that runs across all of the artwork.. The thin line disappears when you go into normal coverflow… Anyone else experience this?
iTunes 7.1
Trying it right now. Wow! Coverflow works great, especially with a Kensington scroll wheel. The full screen option turns the Mac into the ultimate party jukebox for friends to scroll through.
Also adds Preference for AppleTV…
….or was that there previously??
Anyone else have a thin black diagonal line running through the artwork in full screen coverflow?
Go to iTunes preferences and check out the Apple TV pane.
It’s crack-a-lackin’!!
Here’s the story from Apple on Vista compatibility. Bottom line — resolves most issues, working with Microsoft on the rest.

Nope. G5 Quad w/Apple Cinema HD 23″
Okay, looks like everyone is not having this issue, but I did find some other users in the Apple discussions forum that are experiencing the thin black diaganol line bug after updating to 7.1.

Eric: Zune? What is a Zune?
Zune is an adverb which connotes flushing down the toilet. As in “In an act of desperation, Bill Gates zuned millions of shares of MSFT today.”
Is that what these updates are for, the Apple TV?
Apple’s advice to install Vista:
“Perform a clean install of Windows Vista (highly recommended but not required).”
