Apple aired their teaser ad for the Apple iPhone during the Oscars tonight. The ad has run multiple times during the Oscars.
The advertisement started with a collection of scenes from television and film with actors saying “Hello” on a telephone. The scenes are played in rapid succession, and the iPhone appears on the screen. Then a black screen with the words: “Hello” … then … “Coming in June” and finally an Apple logo.

Hello?
Still 4 more months to wait…
Brilliant! The ad included some of my favorite stars like Lucille Ball and favorite films like “Back to the Future!”
Totally awesome!!!
I have got to have one of these. And I think I’ll load the commercial on it once I get it just to show everybody!
SqUiRt!!!!
Hello World.
February is over in 3 days… I think it’s safe to say the iPhone is 3 months away at this point.
T-Minus 95 days.
Absolutely awesome. And to include Marty McFly – Super cool!
Hello Moto
No mention of the word “iPhone” in the ad…???
Hello in 800 languages.

Nuclear Kid: Yeah, “Back to the Future” is sooo freakin’ awesome.
Plus, Bogart and more. This is a great ad!
The commercial was PERFECT for the oscars, should have had the iPhone up 4 a little longer but oh well.
The word iPhone should have been in the ad. Big mistake.
1984: Say hello to Macintosh
1999: Say hello to iMac
2007: Hello?
Agreed, Oops.
Instead of just “Hello” I would’ve displayed “Say Hello to iPhone.”
Then you hit them with the Apple logo.
The name of the phone is not mentioned nor seen anywhere in the ad.
Significant?
I agree, “iPhone” should have been in the ad. Also, the iPhone photo showing the touch screen buttons would have been more impressive, but I think Apple is more interested in mystery and effect than in clear communication. After all, it’s a teaser. It had to look totally different than anything anyone has seen before, and it did. Now please, Apple, bring us something about the Mac before I die of old age.
Why did Apple not use the word iPhone in their ad?! What a blown advertising opportunity. Totally ridiculous. Big mistake.
If this was created pre-Cisco settlement then the name could’ve been up in the air.
They might have been looking at the possibility of calling it Apple Phone.
pretty good ad. nice movie tie-in.
BRILLIANT… a total tease…
Millions and millions of people that have never even seen this thing just shat themselves when they saw 2 seconds of the iPhone LOL
I love it…

An Inconvenient Truth won best documentary feature.
Well done, Al.
They didn’t use the term iphone, because it will be renamed the phone by apple, or just apple phone, like apple tv. plus my wife says the lucy part was the best. this was all about marketing with cisco, apple has no plans or need to help them out.
you heard it here first.
They didnt use iPhone because they didnt settle the suit with Cisco until AFTER the commercial was finished.
