  1. And yet not a single Mac-related announcement from Apple in 2007. All rumors and speculation. Waiting is not easy, even if the news down the road makes it worth it. I want to spend from freaking money NOW!!!!

  2. @Cynic821

Yeah so we can be exposed to drive-by shootings, people bitching that they thought a baguette was actually a cheese burger, squalling kids, plastic table tops and a wonderful view of the Denny’s and Arby’s across the street.

  3. I’m moving to France for the summer, and taking my trusty TiBook 550.

France is awesome, and far more balanced that American lifestyles.

And, with this statistical tidbit, apparently they are smarter than Windows users,as well.

Vive la France! Pass that wine and stinky cheese, Francois!

  4. @ who cares

Ummm… Apple notebook sales up by 67%

With that growth rate, Apple’s tiny market share won’t be tiny for long will it…

We have all been focusing on Microsoft. But the casualties of a continued growth of Apple Mac sales include all the hardware vendors. They currently have no answer to the Apple juggernaut.

What will HP, Dell, Acer, Lenovo etc do to counter the loss of lucrative notebook sales?

If they lose confidence in Microsoft, perhaps they will begin developing their own operating systems.

HP could do that – they have the software expertise, and they have had their own flavour of Unix (HP-UX) for a long time now.

If Apple market share grows beyond 20% I predict that HP will release a corporate-flavoured, Unix-powered, desktop operating system to compete with Windows. In fact, I would not be at all surprised to discover that HP are already working on it.

If I am right, then it could be this that has Microsoft rattled… HP would be a formidable competitor for the corporate desktop. With a unix-based office package that can read and write MS format files, and a half-decent user interface, HP could present a real alternative.

  5. If this keeps up and Apple’s growth continues to be 5x that of the PC, then in 20 years Apple’s grasp on the market will have grown to a whopping 06.17%.

Now, that ought to scare the pants off MSoft and the rest of the PC world.

  6. Do the Math.

I did. Based on the growth rates quoted in the article (31% for Mac and 5.3% for PC), current marketshare numbers (3% Mac and 97% PC), Mac marketshare would overtake PC in 17 quarters.

That’s just over 4 years, Do the Math.
