“When I sat down across from Les Vadasz yesterday, I noticed something different. As an Intel co-founder (badge #3), he was the design manager for the world’s first DRAM, EPROM and microprocessor,” Steve Jurvetson, former product marketing exec at Apple and NeXT Software, reports via his Flickr blog.
MacDailyNews Note: Vadasz was a founding member of Intel in 1968. He retired from Intel on June 1, 2003.
Jurvetson reports, “I had to ask, with a bit of a snicker: ‘So, did you finally get to buy the computer you’ve always dreamed of having, now that there’s Intel inside?’ Les: ‘You’re god damn right!'”

Why is this a story? When the Exhaulted One (King of the World) put Intel inside his aluminum, why wouldn’t Intel employees join the other 5% of people who buy Macs?
The real story is that this guy had any number of computers to choose from and he chose a mac. On top of that he was forced for years to use Windows and when it came to his personal choice he opted for OSX. This isn’t a fanboi going on about OSX but a guy well versed in technology. When someone with this much skill in knowledge uses a mac over a windows machine it really says something.
This speaks VOLUMES!!!!!
You may be beyond help.
But the answer is that if Windows were not a complete mess, he would have stayed with it.
And no-one dreams of Windows, it only delivers nightmares.
And he enjoys Peet’s coffee.
In other news, Microsoft headquarters is now completely chair-free.
So far we’ve added #3 at Intel and Jim Alchin at Microsoft to the secret admireres list. I believe that Bill Joy is a Mac guy. Who’s next?
I bet, the % of Intel employees who use Apple is much, much greater than 5%
Part of it has to be , they opt for OS10 over windows, but probaly because they can run both OS12 and windows on the same machine, keep up with what is going on in the outside world, on both sides

BUY??!!! WTF! This guy probably has a line of computer manufacturers around the block waiting to dump truck loads of thier crap on him for FREE!! And HE CHOOSES TO BUY A MAC! Now that is “WOW”.
I sure hope Apple gave him a hefty discount, and if not a cash equivelent in Apple stock as a TY!

The word I think you want is “exalted”.
And you are probably underestimating Apple’s market share at 5% – most reports suggest Apple is between 6% & 7% after the last quarter, and growing sales at 30-40% year on year. There is no sign of a slowdown in the march of the Apple Mac, indeed it seems that growth is accelerating.
I have not seen any research on Apple’s ability to meet demand for the Mac, other than the recent appointment of an additional manufacturer for the Macbook and Macbook Pro. But Apple do have an effective distribution model so as long as they can continue to add manufacturing capacity there should be no constraint on growth.
The numbers speak for themselves. If you are still one of the Apple naysayers, regarding the Mac as a “fringe” computing experience, then you are going to be increasingly isolated. For your own sake, I suggest you keep your posts anonymous. On some other sites, some of the most vociferous “anti-mac-fanboy” posters have become silent.
We are now in the era of Apple. Who knows where this is going, but its going to be a helluva ride…
I love these people that STILL don’t understand the difference between INSTALLED USER BASE and percentage of computers SOLD each year.

Percentage of units sold each year IS NOT EQUAL TO the number of human beings sitting at a computer using a particular OS.

I think the number of SMART people buying Macs is a little higher than 5% of the computer buying public today.
I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you are not trying to insinuate that the Mac market share is doing anything but growing at a HUGE rate.
