  1. The word is antitrust. M$ better not be doing anything directly to prevent Apple, Inc. from being able to successfully port its software, such as QuickTime and iTunes, onto any and all flavors of Windows Vista. Let’s hope Steve’s lawyers are on this.

  2. Hell, Vista is not even compatible with itself, Intel, Windows boxes, hardware in general, common sense, fair play, the real world, Microsoft’s intentions, consumer rights, security software, Norwegian porn (Rudolph the [MW: red] nose…). The only thing Vista is compatible with is grief! And malware, of course, Microsoft’s signature innovation.

  3. Some ass-wipe appropriated (forged) my screen name with the second entry (about loving Gates). Actually… I probably WOULD love him if I had him over for lunch. I’d eat his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

P.S., this is my last entry today. Anyone else using Greg L here is an imposter (and likely a virgin who’s still living in his parent’s basement). Looser.

  4. Vista is shit ITS going Down! I hate vista: OK so PC users Some of which are
technoloygy clever, some single Parents Newbis.

Get: LINUX! PLease. This is easy to use.

Windows is soOOOO bad, its is badder than bad. It will take a year off your
    time.

I have worked near PCs, Most are in bins after beating with hammers, I worked
at Dick smiths and told people to not buy a PC! Guys really Windows in bad.
So Linux Please this works fine it is cool, Its the same as windows you have a
“start Bar” or “task bar” and you open applications the same, it looks the
    same.

Basically you have folders for your documents and applications, Most
applications are easy to use, and Free.

Office is called Open Office it is the same as Word, Excel, etc. You can
install “office” and “Photoshop” which is, called GIMP looks the same as
photoshop and is easy to use..

You can get most Web browsers and email tools, i.e. Firefox which is used on
    PCs LOL.

Linux can go on Most PCs, Many applications can be used same as windows, Only
Games would be an issue for people, But even some games are OK.
The software is copied of Windows and Macs; Why, so new users can learn it. so
no Excuse now so install linux on your PC.

You can download Linux from ubuntu.com as this seems the easiest version.

IT “Information Technology” support now costs, some IT people are saying Dont
use windows so We dont care if you get stuck on an issue.

Apple is a direction, constant improvement and input, Support this like any
    progressive productive system.

So its not just a competition any more or Ideals Its Doing the right thing.

Most PC user have enjoyed the technology; as they could make there own hardware
this was a reson people got PCS, Windows has always looked upon as a bit of a
pig as any PC user will tell you. The idea that PC users made harware is great
and it shows that people enjoy design, & invention.

Vista is stopping this now. Linux will take over this area, Games could be
console now are and mayby passing a stage.
Game makers have been stuck with windows also, but they could make a OS for
    ‘games’ Only.

Thanks for reading this long article, I Don’t like Vista.
I have worked in technology for 15 years I worked as a secretary for American
Express Bank, many IT companies, Users think allot of tech people like Windows:
NO they dont’t We want to tell you they suck.

    OK Thanks,

    Anthony Macsnacs.com

  5. Greg L (the real one),

You are right about Microsoft. Microsoft killed Word Perfect with the “Windows is not done until Word Perfect won’t run” policy when MS transitioned to Windows from DOS. MS is evil.

As for hijacking posters handles, I wish MDN would ban all posts from these asshole identity thieves — no mercy.

  6. Hey, hey, heeaeey!!! It’s Fat Ballmer!

iTunes is not needed for Vista, there is, uh, well, corporate IT bans iTunes from installing and blocks the Store. iTunes, is not safe, security wise, for, well, don’t trust it on a network. Apple is all alone on iTunes, I mean, they pissed off their partners, they don’t allow third-party, uh, developers with iTunes. I mean iTunes doens’t, ha, hu, it doesn’t even have a freakin’ keyboard!

  7. LinuxGuy and Mac Prodigal Son:

WordPerfect and Lotus 1-2-3 were very interesting case. That was first time MS got in troble with government. They got caught creating two versions of API, one of external and another for internal application development. One for the external developers had so many bugs, it was just matter of time before Windows crashed.

  8. How long will it take to make MS Office an universal binary? Nothing new here.

And I really don’t think Apple will update it’s software just to make Vista compatible. They’ll make some other changes too, a.k.a make iTunes 7 less hungry – cover flow seems pretty slow on my soon-to-be-sold-PC (ATI radeon 9200 128MB) and works alright on my MacBook (GMA 950).

  9. Apple is under no obligation to try to beat any of the traditional Windows-based software suppliers to the punch.

There are dozens, if not hundreds of companies out there that haven’t yet BOTHERED to update their software or drivers to be compatible with Vista yet.

Why on Earth would anyone rail on Apple to try to beat everyone to the punch to produce drivers or software to be compatible with Vista while Windows-based companies still hasn’t done so?

Those posters here who are railing on Apple to do so are clearly not Mac users, nor do they understand how this industry works.

  10. To reiterate: iTunes and quicktime run fine on my Vista home premium.

What didn’t run fine was my sound card on my 1 year old PC-a problem they didn’t fix from the betas. My sound card is a generic, standard integrated card using the AC ’97 codec.
    What the hell microsoft?
You had 5 years to get it right, what happened?
