Apple today announced that the world’s most wearable digital music player is now available in five brilliant colors: blue, pink, green, orange and the original silver. A hit with customers since its initial shipment three months ago, iPod shuffle is just half a cubic inch in volume, weighs just half an ounce and features a minimalist aluminum design with a built-in clip, making it the most wearable iPod ever. Based on Apple’s “shuffle” feature, which lets music fans enjoy a continuous mix of their favorite songs anywhere they go, iPod shuffle contains 1GB of flash memory, holds up to 240 songs and is available in all five colors for just $79.
“iPod shuffle is the world’s most wearable digital music player,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing, in the press release. “Music fans can now choose iPod shuffle in one of five brilliant colors, or they can buy one of each.”
iPod shuffle features up to 12 hours of battery life and lets users shuffle their songs to listen to them in a random order or simply flip a switch to listen to their songs in order, such as when listening to a new album.
Users connect iPod shuffle to their PC or Mac with the included dock, and iTunes’ innovative AutoFill feature automatically syncs the perfect number of songs from their music library. Seamless integration with iTunes 7 and the iTunes Store allows customers to choose from a selection of over four million songs from the world’s most popular digital music store.
The new iPod shuffle is available immediately worldwide through the Apple Store, Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers for US$79. iPod shuffle includes an iPod shuffle dock and earbuds.
iPod shuffle requires a Mac with a USB 2.0 port and Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or later and iTunes 7.0.2 or later; or a Windows PC with a USB 2.0 port and Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), Windows XP Home or Professional (Service Pack 2) and iTunes 7.0.2 or later. Internet access is required and a broadband connection is recommended.

Who cares? Where’s my Multi-touch iPod?
Whoa! Serious eyecandy!
I was very excited when I saw the store down, with some of the rumors flying around.
Slightly underwhelmed with the new offering of color shuffles.
Is Apple supposed to shake the Earth every couple of weeks? Give them some time, sheesh.
Enough with the neon . . . give me some pastels, man!
This is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than….VISTA launch today!
Nice but should have had a black one.
No brown shuffle? Huge mistake, Apple. You folks just don’t get it.
Welcome to my social.
I don’t think Apple would release a touchscreen iPod before the iPhone launches. Those technologies should debut with the iPhone, with which they were revealed first. No doubt something as simple as new colors will make the shuffle even more popular.
They look like condoms packaging
“Is Apple supposed to shake the Earth every couple of weeks?”
Yes.
This is a joke right.
Come on Apple, we’re waiting for the serious butt kicking on this day.
Not colored flower petals on the Shuffle.
Please don’t say this is the best you have to offer.
in my opinion the touch screen ipod is already the iphone, the flash memory only needs to be updated, after that apple is putting M$ very down again.
Whoop de freakin’ do! 4 new colors for those crappy no-screen Zune wannabe only-good-as-a-paperclip-substitute shuffle thingys?

I LOVE my new Shuffle. The design is so great.
Perfect for the gym or going jogging. And when I’m done, I can toss it in my gym bag and not have to worry about it getting all scratched up.
And I cannot say enough about the clip. It’s all about the clip.
…and now it comes in Orange!
Apple should sell lots-n-lots of these, good going Apple…yet again.
By the way…does anybody think that when the new iPods come out, they’ll be available in multi-colored aluminum enclosures?
That way…people will just have to get all 3 iPods in the same color.
I would anyway…but I tend to be an idiot.
Touch screen iPod will probably not be released until Sept. or so, at the earliest; after letting the iPhone launch but before the massive Xmas season.
Told you so.
I ordered a green one. Gonna use it for a promotion at work.
MW: Got – Well, they got at least one sale.
Zune Tang: ….I hope you’re just being sarcastic (i think)….otherwise you’re completely nuts.
“Slightly underwhelmed with the new offering of color shuffles.”
I guess Apple is teh suxxors for not being able to invent new colors.
That’s just a diversion, they bring people to the Apple Store…
then on SuperBowl Day! they will launch the real thing, I bet it has something to do with vista… by that I mean Leopard announcement.
I have no sources, just my own speculation.
If apple want to steal any of the vista thunder, they don’t need to announce of release anything – just send out invitations to a special event sometime in the future with a suitably intriguing picture/theme and people will talk about that instead.
