Those unfamiliar with Apple’s Mac OS X may be impressed with Windows Vista

“‘Wow’ hasn’t tended to be a big part of Bill Gates’ vocabulary, but to hear him speak in the hours before Microsoft Corp.’s planned launch of the long-awaited Vista operating system with a slate of splashy events in New York, you’d never know it,” Jessica Mintz reports for The Associated Press.

“‘This ‘Wow’ thing is a great way of describing what we’ve got here,’ Microsoft’s chairman said in an interview Monday. ‘There are chances for wows all over the product,'” Mintz reports.

Mintz reports, “More than five years in the making, Vista was released for business customers Nov. 30, but the new Windows operating system’s unveiling for consumer buyers was scheduled for Tuesday. The Redmond, Wash.-based software maker contends that Vista is such a huge improvement over previous computing platforms that users inevitably say ‘Wow’ when they see it and so the word plays a big role in the company’s marketing campaign.”

MacDailyNews Take: And now for reality: Vista is such a improvement over previous versions of Windows that PC users who have never used or seen Apple’s Mac OS X might say “Wow” when they see Vista’s poorly copied interpretations of some of Mac OS X’s features. Wow, $6 billion and thousands of programmers working for over 5 years and that’s all they could come up with?

What would Windows users say after seeing this? http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/

  1. I must agree the “Wow” is an apt word for describing Vista. As in, “Wow, after all this time, MS still really sucks”. Or, “Wow, these people don’t have a single creative thought among all of them put together”. Or, “Wow, it’s a damn shame a lot of Windows users are going to think MS is oh-so clever for coming up with all these great ideas”. Or, “Wow, there sure is big money in mediocrity, on account of the ignorant masses”.

And on and on and on, ad nausem……

  2. WOW it looks just like a bad Tiger rip-off.

WOW how bad does this suck compared to the Leopard screen shots?

WOW as long as we can keep fooling most of the people, most of the time, we get to stay a De Facto Monopoly.

Did anyone see Gates interviewed on the Today show this morning? Half the lead in segment was devoted to Apple being better. Gates was grinding is teeth.
