“This year, the general consumer and corporate arena will favor the portable PC experience in notebooks and laptops in emerging markets, leaving desktops by the wayside according to a UBS analyst. In a note to investors Thursday, UBS analyst Benjamin Reitzes lowered his growth projection for the 2007 personal computer market to 12% from 14% given a lag in desktop computer sales. He also sees growth of 10% into 2008 and 2009,” Matthew Kirdahy reports for Forbes.
Kirdahy reports, “Reitzes said the growth will be fueled in part by Microsoft’s latest operating system Vista, which launched in November, but has yet to reach its potential.”
“Looking ahead, Reitzes likes computer manufacturers Hewlett Packard and Apple over Dell as the major players in the market, given HP’s firm position in emerging markets, such as China, India and Eastern Europe, and Apple’s wide variety of notebook computers, carrying the company’s own operating system,” Kirdahy reports.

This analyst is right! I would like to add, I believe that during 2007 Coca-cola will be a ‘major player’ in the soft-drink industry and Wal-Mart will be a ‘major player’ in retail.

Already have a powebook that suits my needs and a kick ass PC for games. One can of course never play as well on a laptop as on a stationary but that not what they are intended for either which is why I have to computers.
And don’t come saying you’re playing games on your MBP and they run great! Compared to on a gaming system they don’t.
Still love my PB for everything else though ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
