Apple.com: ‘The first 30 years were just the beginning.  Welcome to 2007.’

Apple has posted a new welcome image on their Apple.com website featuring a backlit top-half of the famous Apple logo with the text, “The first 30 years were just the beginning. Welcome to 2007.” The dawn of a new Apple? Apple takes the stage?

[Thanks to MacDailyNews Readers “iBulb,” “Tom,” and “macnut222” for the heads up.]
Is this simply a “Happy New Year” message or a teaser of things to come in 2007 or both? And why do we keep expecting to hear Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra when looking at the image?

  1. It’s funny that MDN mentions that soundtrack, because I have thought that most everything Apple in the last few years looked like it was straight out of “2001”. Consider that the little one man spaceships were called “pods”, and that the set decor was mostly gleeming white with black and chrome, like today’s iPods and iMacs. The Cube, color-wise, is from the same pallet as the moonsuits. When I saw the Apple site just now, I thought am I the only one who sees this?

  2. AR, I know that Vista is coming out on Jan 30th. Personally, I don’t give 2¢ about Vista but if Apple’s top secret features are all that, who knows what Apple may choose to show the world? Remember Apple’s Intel commercial: “Imagine The Possibilities” .

  3. i think its racist picture. theres a cop flashlight behind the black apple logo. its subtle but racism can be subtle you know… also they dont want people to own black macbooks so they charge extra for nothing, they want people to have everything in white rather. What was the last time you saw black, yellow or red apple product? Its all white, its all racist therefore.
in the picture they have just busted the last bad rotten apple, the black apple (fruits tend to get black when they rot). yada yada
McDN magic word: also, because it could also mean other things you know: time to google “illuminati black apple”.

  4. if you look at the photo VERY closely, you will see something in the background – it isn’t black…

    or not…

It depends upon how I stood looking at my monitor. Hmmmm
