Broadcom wins SoC bid in ‘upcoming stealth phone’ coming soon from ‘major consumer device company’

“BMO Capital Markets notes their checks suggest that Broadcom has obtained a noteworthy design win in the upcoming stealth phone, about to be offered by a major consumer device company,” Notable Calls reports.

Notable Calls reports, “Firm’s checks suggest that it is a system on a chip (SoC) that enables an onscreen touchpad feature that is likely going to enable a new type of user interface for the phone… It appears that there is a strong likelihood that this part shows up in the next generation media players as well.”

In July it was reported that Nvidia had beaten out Broadcom for inclusion in Apple’s “true” video iPod that was to debut in “first half 2007.” On December 4th, reports stated that Nvidia’s graphics chip destined for Apple’s next-gen video iPod was delayed, at which point we asked in our Take, “Well, if Apple designed the next-gen iPod with the NVIDIA part in mind and planned its debut for Macworld in January, then the impact on the next-gen iPod seems pretty clear to us.
