The headline reads: “Gizmodo Knows: iPhone Will Be Announced On Monday.”
The entire body text of the post reads: “I guarantee it. It isn’t what I expected at all. And I’ve already said too much. – Brian Lam”
That’s all, folks.
The link is here.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “LinuxGuy and Mac Prodigal Son” for the heads up.]
<cough> Bullshit <cough>
Monday can’t come fast enough.
Lam is on CRACK! And THAT’S my professional opinion. I’m an ex-crackhead….hehehehe.
This late in the holiday shopping season? Dream on.
What a smart way to get some quick ad-revenue for Gizmodo.
Well – i’m convinced!
The 5th Monday after the next total solar eclipse that is…….
They’re getting all the hits they want.
MDN,
“No comment” because you have no information or because you have info that you can’t yet report?
I know, I know, “no comment.”
Could be he’s under NDA… or just making stuff up.
It is hard to believe. The least you would expect is an Apple special event announced in advance.
MW: big, as in “This would be a big deal if really true”.
I make stuff up all the time…like, for example “my hair is on fire”.
WAIT! AAAAAARRRRRRGH!!!
Apple would NEVER release anything on a MONDAY! For the following Reasons:
1. Monday is not Tuesday
2. No pre-special event cute little invite that they email to everyone.
Hot damn! I zuned myself on the headline!
This is bullshit. I guarantee it. And I’ve already said too much
Usually when MDN has no comment, they just leave off the MacDailyNews Take.
So, why did MDN make the “no comment” statement?
Reading between the lines, I believe MDN knows something, too, but can’t or won’t say.
I agree – this sounds like complete bs… But what if the key word is ‘announced’? Maybe the start of a teaser campaign leading up to Macworld, for example…
Load up on some AAPL.
Chiaki,
I agree 100%. MDN wrote “no comment” in order to tell us something is up and don’t discount Gizmodo’s report.
It’s Brilliant! Steve Jobs will destroy the current wireless market, but killing their holiday sales! Companies will be CRUSHED! People will be jumping out of windows and the stock market hits an all time technology low as people dump, Motorola, Nokia, LG and other top phone producers. Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint – Nextel and Cingular will be ruined! Because Apple will carry their own service and then RULE the WORLD!
“I guarantee it” Muhahhhahaha
Chiaki and Dave,
You’re right! There is no reason for MDN to say “no comment” in their Take. If they have “no comment” on ANY other article, they just don’t add a Take at all.
I think MDN’s “no comment” statement means something, too.
Ok, let’s look at this:
1) MacWorld is about 4-5 weeks away. Why announce now? The big event that everyone will be watching is MacWorld.
2) It’s a Monday. Apple announces new products (almost always) on a Tuesday.
3) No invites have been sent out. This would be a HUGE announcement and would be accompanied by a lot of fanfair.
4) It would be 1 week prior to Christmas. Wrong time to announce a new product. Right now is the time to just keep selling all you have. Don’t bring confusion to the consumer.
In all, I’m just saying it smells like B.S.
This is IT!!!
I’m taking Monday off, and I’m camping out at the University Village Apple store. We’re going to have one of the worst storms in history tonight. Will that stop me? NEVER!!! Who is this Gizmodo fellow? Who cares!!!
iPHONE BAYBAY!!!
I’ll call you all on Monday from my ossem new phone.
Now everyone hold your breath.

MW: ‘seemed’ (credible to me!)
I believe Gizmodo is correct! it will be announced on Monday. Monday, January 8, 2007.

Ah, Rock on Steve!
As I remember, Cingular and T-Mobile aways announce new phones on Mondays on their web sites.
