  1. is it just me or have the last 5 updates all “contains several updates to enhance security and stability, including fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code.”

Are there really that many holes or do they just not have someone to write descriptions anymore so they just keep using the same one?

  2. is anyone else sick of that ‘mactopia’ site? First, ‘mactopia’ sounds like an unfortunate medical procedure. Second, an insecure, badly written, ugly, PPC-only office suite and a third-rate instant messaging client, coupled with dead links for a defunct, laughable browser and a defunct, laughable media player do not all combine to make a utopia of any sort, let alone for mac users.

  3. just tried to update….typical mikroKRAP….

  4. ….a word processor is not meant to be a vulnerability…

i’m hoping iWork’s next version has a spreadsheet, now i’m using iWork 06 and Neo Office/ Open Office. No vulnerabilities with these. I think i’m done with microsoft anything.

  5. Microsoft needs to come clean and say that it recognises that Office and Windows were hijacked and are both fully fledged viruses.

I have never uploaded an Office update. I load a minimalist installation of office (but always use Pages and Keynote) and certainly don’t want any dial home 200mb updates from MS anywhere near my Mac.

  6. Word runs like crap on my Powerbook. I get beachballs and stutters all the time.

Could someone who has worked in Word for a long while comment on transitioning to Pages? I am an academic so my usage is pretty basic.

    i appreciate your input.

  7. Attempting to download the English version of the 11.3.1 standalone updater is still generating a 404 error.

However, the AutoUpdater did work for me.

I like to get the standalone upgrade files, too, in case I have to reinstall and don’t have access to the ‘net.
