is it just me or have the last 5 updates all “contains several updates to enhance security and stability, including fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code.”
Are there really that many holes or do they just not have someone to write descriptions anymore so they just keep using the same one?
And there link to the update doesn’t work! Typical Microsoft these days can’t do anything right. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”confused” style=”border:0;” />
is anyone else sick of that ‘mactopia’ site? First, ‘mactopia’ sounds like an unfortunate medical procedure. Second, an insecure, badly written, ugly, PPC-only office suite and a third-rate instant messaging client, coupled with dead links for a defunct, laughable browser and a defunct, laughable media player do not all combine to make a utopia of any sort, let alone for mac users.
just tried to update….typical mikroKRAP….

The security issue here is to install protection your computer from any chairs thrown at it from the makers of Zune during the holiday buying season…….
The download link (for the English download) seems to be broken, and the Microsoft AutoUpdate isn’t detecting any updates yet either. (8:30 AM CST.)
Gheem use “Check for Updates” off of the Help menu in any Office app.
Download link doesn’t work… crap microsoft!!! They can’t even put up a usable link.
Since I don’t open attachments from untrusted sources, is there any reason why I should update? I can think of a number of reasons why I shouldn’t – like it works fine.
We just installed iWork with the word processing program Pages. We are removing MS Word from our computers.
OK. The link to the update – PAGE NOT FOUND.
Good job MS.
This linked worked yestreday, but now the link is dead. Maybe MSFT found that the update file was bad and needed further work. Expect and updated update later today. Poor slobs!
Another link confirmation – it doesn’t work for me either. I can’t believe that a company can become a multi-billion dollar operation built on this sort of ineptitude.
Bah Humbug…NeoOffice for life!
Microsoft Bob doesn’t have the equipment to stop this flood
Because people who stick their fingers in a dike
Are usually ball-less.
….a word processor is not meant to be a vulnerability…
i’m hoping iWork’s next version has a spreadsheet, now i’m using iWork 06 and Neo Office/ Open Office. No vulnerabilities with these. I think i’m done with microsoft anything.
Re: 404 errors on MS download links page
Simple explanation. The MS webmaster is busy copying and pasting icons for the Mactopia site from Apple.com (MS R&D South) before the links are activated.
Microsoft needs to come clean and say that it recognises that Office and Windows were hijacked and are both fully fledged viruses.
I have never uploaded an Office update. I load a minimalist installation of office (but always use Pages and Keynote) and certainly don’t want any dial home 200mb updates from MS anywhere near my Mac.
From Microsoft AutoUpdate just now:
“There are no updates available for your Microsoft software at this time. Please check again later.”
Maybe the patches caught a virus?
Tommy Boy-
thnks for the tip, but I get “no updates at this time” ahhh ferget it, neo office is better anyway!
The link doesn’t work? I downloaded this with Office’s AutoUpdate *yesterday*.
What? Does that company have a department of buffer overflows or something?
Word runs like crap on my Powerbook. I get beachballs and stutters all the time.
Could someone who has worked in Word for a long while comment on transitioning to Pages? I am an academic so my usage is pretty basic.
i appreciate your input.
Of course, there’s this little caveat at Step 8 (yes, step 8. An 8 step update…)
8. If the installation finishes successfully, you can remove the update installer from your hard disk…
IF the installation finishes? IF?
Oi! Why bother.
Attempting to download the English version of the 11.3.1 standalone updater is still generating a 404 error.
However, the AutoUpdater did work for me.
I like to get the standalone upgrade files, too, in case I have to reinstall and don’t have access to the ‘net.
