“LCD monitor vendors expect 17-inch widescreen monitors to replace entry-level and middle-range 15-inch and 17-inch LCD monitors in the future. The prices for 17-inch widescreen monitors will not necessary be higher than 17-inch 4:3 models amid more efficient panel cutting by makers, according to the vendors,” Wang and Chuang report.

Current Apple monitor lineup:
30-inch Apple Cinema HD Display: 2560 x 1600 resolution – $1999.
23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display: 1920 x 1200 resolution – $999.
20-inch Apple Cinema Display: 1680 x 1050 resolution – $699.
If the price is right, one could pair this monitor with a Mac mini and have a nice little system to work on.
20″ for my grandma (hypothetically speaking) is an over kill size and timewise. Hope it costs less than 500
What is up with MDN? Opera hangs on it, Safari Hangs on it, Firefox hangs on it. Don’t anyone tell me it’s the browser because if this site doesn’t work properly on any of the ones I’m using, there needs to be some serious recoding.
A 17 inch would be nice, but I’d still rather have a 17″ iMac.

i agree with suggestion, that would be nicer than the oxy formac 19″ im using, however they wont do it lol have to look out for a broken imac and use it just for the creen

That’s a good variety. 20 is too close to 23 to bother if you’ve got a price or space issue.
The only “hanging” experience I have on MDN is all the “hanging out” I do. I sure missed it the last few days.
Haven’t used a 4:3 monitor for years … since 4:3 died. Good riddance.

i disagree, I have a 20 inch wide and it is perfect, both in desktop size and Desk real estate. I would not want to be forced to pay more for the 23 inch or get stuck with a 17 inch.

What bugs me about mdn are those nasty pop ups. Using firefox here btw. But perhaps I should just upgrade to version 2.0 I guess. Anyway, too many irritating advertisements will scare people away.
Firefox doesn’t hang on it, SeaMonkey doesn’t hang on it, Opera doesn’t hang on it, iCab doesn’t hang on it, Mozilla 1.3.1 (WaMCom) for OS 9 doesn’t hang on it and iCab 3.0.3 for OS 9 doesn’t hang on it.
I hate those popups too. I also hate it when a browser pops up a message to tell me that it blocked a pop up! Opera blocks popups without annoying me.
I emailed MacDaileyNews about the “hanging” problem and the said “we’re working on it.” But that was a long time ago. I think all their fancy ads and popups are causing problems. Sad a Mac site is one of the few that chokes Safari.

I mostly agree – but would rather the 24″ simply go up to 25″ & be done with it, and I don’t want built in iSight. For laptops it’s a space convenience (one less thing to carry around), but for desktop monitors I’d rather have a high quality camera (better than built-in versions) that I can move around at will. I suppose I could move a 25 or 30″ screen around at will too, but … well you get the picture.
