“Apple Computer is gearing up to launch its annual ‘Black Friday’ sale next week, in which it will offer price cuts on various Mac and iPod products in a 24-hour bid to usher in the holiday shopping season with a bang,” AppleInsider reports.
“The one day event extends from the company’s online store to its national retail chain,” AppleInsider reports. “About the same time Apple kicks-off its Black Friday festivities, the company is expected to announce “holiday store hours” at many of its retail locations. Unlike the Black Friday sale, the extended hours of operation will run through the entire holiday shopping season.”
AppleInsider reports, “Traditionally, Apple has pre-announced plans for its Black Friday bonanzas but kept specific discounts and sale items a secret until the day of the sale.”

Last year it was $100 discounts on both iBooks and iMacs, plus a few other assorted specials. They certainly aren’t “crap” discounts at all, but they’re nothing earth shaking either.
$100 USD
That’s like $375 CAD
That’s worth the trip.
I love Apple, but the word “Apple” and “Sale” are oxymorons. Apple protects it’s margins very agressively, as it’s difficult to get significant discounts from Apple itself or any of the distributors (unless it’s old stock or refurbished equipment). Not knocking Apple. It’s this practice that keeps my Apple equipment from devaluing like a Dell.
In short, buy Apple cause you like and want Apple, don’t buy expecting an Apple for less.
As an aside- just back from Best Buy (Syracuse, NY).
Asked salesperson how many Zunes they have sold.
0.

A Great day!!!!
We live in Playa Del Carmen , Mexico, (american family). In 11 years have never seen Apple computers for sale here,(bought my 20″iMac in Vegas last July) an Office Max just opened last week, and I was shocked to see every model on display, all 3 iMacs, mac books and pro’s. even a mini hooked up to non apple moniter and keyboard!!
It was fantastic seeing these people getting their 1st look at Apple. There was 3 or 4 peole around each machine , while the wintels set there all alone. I ended up spending several hours there explaining and showing folks how easy macs are to use, even had several staff and the manager with me,
It seems they recieved the Macs, and had no problem getting them all up and running, but Apple Mexico will not be here until late next week for staff training.
Just for general info, Apple products are about 30% higher here, “24”iMac $2,632″ 17″ $1,362
Trolling or not, what’s the sense in trying to get people to argue. Oh, I know… adolescence. No check that. Childishness– adolescence is a prelude to adulthood.
Great satire, Zune Tang. Haven’t heard from your sister, Pune Tang, lately.
A sale is a sale. Some are more for hype than actual savings.
Why is it called “Black” Friday? Frank? Mr. Johnson? Enlighten us, I beg.
Lay off my brother, Adda. He’s mind to relish.
Does this Black Friday discount thing mean we can buy BlackBooks and black iPod nanos to an ordinary price?
HotinPlaya–that’s really cool. Too bad about 1/60th of one percent of the population can afford it…Bet they do well with small business, though.
Zune Tang = Ampar.
Like it.
Nice change of pace…. personally, I think you can do a little better though.
Keep up the good work.
I can do a little better at what? Seeing the truth?
Let me lay it out for you: Apple is a dead brand. Nobody is interested in so they resort to shenanigans like “Black Friday”. Whatever. Hey Apple, try to compete on product quality, innovation and end user satisfaction rather than price. Microsoft is where they are today because their inventiveness truly transformed technology. The result is a loyal customer base in the IT sector. I freakin’ T! With an open-minded, dynamic and exciting group like that pushing Redmond there is no limit to what they can accomplish. The result? Zune and Vista. Consumers are reaping the rewards of Microsoft’s genius and this will become clear when Friday’s sales figures are released.
Get on board lemmings before it is too late!
I am not alone when I say I can’t wait to see what Redmond comes up with next.
Welcome to the Social.

You really think so……my finger is hovering over the “buy” button. Got contacted by a “Business Manager” from Apple….about 5% discount.
You’d expect more – I’ve bought about 50 Macs.
“…and the following week, Micro$oft will start off their winter sales season with ‘Brown Wednesday
…followed in turn by their “Brown Christmas” holiday promotion.
Ballmer himself will do a Brown Note presentation to rally MS troops.”
Don’t forget the ever-popular “Brown-Light special” on the Zune at K-Mart.
Did you notice that in the Sunday newspaper flyers, about 2 stores were still advertising Zune. Office Depot and Best Buy, if I remember correctly. Everyone was advertising iPod. Zune is already dead.
