Apple has released Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) Updates for several Mac models:
• iMac EFI Firmware Update 1.1 (6.1MB): This EFI Firmware Update fixes several Boot Camp, start up, and wake-from-sleep issues on iMac computers.
• MacBook EFI Firmware Update 1.0 (1.6MB): This EFI Firmware Update fixes several Boot Camp, start up, and wake-from-sleep issues on MacBook computers.
• MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.2 (2.7MB): This EFI Firmware Update fixes several Boot Camp, start up, and wake-from-sleep issues on MacBook Pro computers.
• Mac mini EFI Firmware Update 1.1 (1.6MB): This EFI Firmware Update fixes several Boot Camp, start up, and wake-from-sleep issues on Mac mini computers.
The updates are also available via Mac OS X’s Software Update.
Downloaded and installed on my 2.16 MBP 17″. No issues.
My bew 24″ iMac sometimes doesn’t wake after it’s been put to sleep.
I have to hard-reset it in such cases
It’s rather intermittent, but I hope this sucker can fix the problem
My iMac Core2duo has no issues with bootcamp, but I am going to install it anyway, I trust this guys at apple… I mean, it is not like microsoft that evary patch came later with a “patch for the patch”!.
On my MacBook Pro 15″ the EFI updater claims the computer does not need it.
I’m still having problems automatically connecting to my wireless network on startup or wake from sleep.
This is the only update that’s every given my any problems, ever. Otherwise, 10.4.8 rocks.
S
airport doesn’t seem as robust after this update
not nearly as sensitive my end
I just update it, now it looks like it starts faster… Sure it just update bootcamp and sleep options? That is what I like about apple, you can always expect more than they promes you.
Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) Updates = Trusted Computing Update
You’ll see, Apple will sneak it in there one day, it’s just a matter of time.
It’s not like we can check EFI to see what applications are running in there, contacting the internet, giving up vital information.
Apple’s privacy policy is a lot to be desired, they seem to think it’s just fine for their computers to contact the internet and revel information without your consent or knowledge.
For example: Address Book and Dashboardadvisory process both contact Apple. There is more of course.
