“The Apple Store Glasgow will be in what is currently The Pier on Buchanan Street (147 Buchanan Street, Galsgow, Scotland),” SurvivingCinemas.org reports.
“The planning application shows the removal of the existing mezannine floor, and its replacement with a new one. A new lift and stone floor will be installed, and the rear wall will be in stainless steel panels, as will the ceiling,” SC reports.
“A glass spiral staircase to the left of the main entrance will connect the ground and mezzannine levels. A Genius / iPod bar will be on the upper level; the basement will be used for storage,” SC reports. “There will be no theatre according to the plans.”

Does anyone think about a Apple Travel plan to visit all the stores?
Oh man! Why not Edinburgh? Edinburgh is much more Mac-like than Glasgow!
*ducks to dodge infamous Glasgow-Kiss*

i agree with midnight. have a look at http://www.glasgowsurvival.co.uk to see what i mean! i’ll put it this way – glasgow is carbon, edinburgh is cocoa.
magic word: ‘army’, as in ‘the word ‘army’ has nothing to do with my post.’
I’ve heard mention of a guy who’s already visited most of the stores– at least as of a year or so ago. Not sure if he’s still doing it. Probably broke and bored.
Glasgow is the home of the macintosh museum.
Glasgow is also the home of Robert Fripp, who has been contracted to make the latest startup sounds for Windows Vista.

No big sales of Macs in Scotland. The many sided threepenny bit was made that way so that you could use a wrench (spanner) to get them out of Scottish pockets.
I would have too admit that Glasgow is a much more creative place, by far. Edinburgh has far far too many suits and ties, a haven of Lawyers and Accountants. Edinburgh is the most creative place in the world for three weeks in the year!

You have obviously never been here, Edinburgh is the second most expensive place in the uk outside of London.
Best not rely on clique’d stereotypes for fear of looking ignorant.
It’s SHITE being Scottish! We’re the lowest of the low. The scum of the fucking Earth! The most wretched miserable servile pathetic trash that was ever shat on civilization. Some people hate the English. I don’t. They’re just wankers. We, on the other hand, are colonized by wankers. Can’t even find a decent culture to get colonized by. We’re ruled by effete assholes. It’s a shite state of affairs to be in, Tommy, and all the fresh air in the world won’t make any fucking difference!
Hmmm…sounds like Trainspotting.
I hope they don’t change the look of the building much. I like those old lines much better than the glass and steel dead-tech beside it.
Midnight typical edinburgh asshole.
People actually choose to live in Scotland?
I am going to move to Scotland (my Partner is Scottish) within the next 3-4 years, I am looking forward to buying a 400gb iMotherpod
I have been to Scotland many times and the Jocks are great people. My surname is Scottish and one of the great clans but, do they deserve a Mac store before the rest of the Apple world that, as yet, does not have one? I say NO.
Most of the folk there will be too drunk or beaten up to notice.
C’om on Apple you must have taken a ‘nok to the heed.
hope they have a “Haggas Bar”
Braw weather in July, should be guid fur the queue, a hae nae doots I wud reathir queue in the sna than drive tae gunchester.
Shame for Scotsys tho’, pairr sowels.
progeny,
they wouldn’t be allowed to change the facade – even if they wanted to. Such buildings in Britain are always under protection.
The rebuilding is internal.
Its nice to see all the correct cultural stereotypes are in place. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
The reason its in Glasgow is probably beacause it’s Britain’s second most popular shopping city, after London.
It saddens me that narrow minded (mac users) come onto this site and talk bullshit about cities and people they dont know anything about.
Comments such as “do they deserve” a mac store before the rest of the world are vile, incensitive, ignorant, down right arrogant and should not be welcome on this site.
Mac users are apparently better educated, more qualified and hold down better jobs then PC users, however you would never guess it by the number of morons that use this site.

As a citizen of Glasgow by choice not birth, I am not surprised Glasgow gets the store before Edinburgh as this is the commercial and design heart of Scotland. The fact that it’s the largest retail area outside of London might have something to do with it too.
I pass this building twice a day on my way to and from work. Looks like the digital camera will be taking a few trips with me in 2007. I hope it doesn’t kill the Scotsys store on the Great Western Road, as they have flown the flag for many years.
And to those diddies who have had offensive things to say about Glasgow, its people and Scotland in general, get it right roond ye as they say hereabouts.
HAIL HAIL
Finally Apple takes the plunge and goes north of the border. Glasgow’s lack of a store when London has three and Manchester two was getting embarrassing. Most American readers won’t realise just how big a conurbation Glasgow and it’s surrounding towns is.
Leeds next.
That building ROCKS! How do I get a job there?
While I’m all for the shiny-shiny glass metal-ness of modern apple stores (I live in San Francisco) I do love a bit of gingerbread now and then.
Congratulations Glasgow, enjoy!
Simply replacing the old Apple Centre Glasgow once had at SECC. Pity people waste so much time displaying their prejudices and ignorance. I’ve never been anywhere that didn’t have its good and bad points. Get out more!
