Good article. I feel like Intel really is working hard with Apple in a way they can’t/ don’t with PC makers. It’s probably because of Apple’s control of the “whoe widget.”

There a lot of assumptions this author is making regarding Intel.. Always best not to assume.
Like I said yesterday on one of my posts, Apple wants to be the ultimate distribute/seller of content. They don’t want to make it or produce it, just sell it. I see a true on-demand world coming very quickly (ie. next 2 years). You will be able to watch any movie or TV show or listen to any piece of music instantly (or damn near close to it). Pricing is the major issue to be worked out.

Not so sure about this. Well argued an’ all, but … This would mean Apple seriously changing course. As many of us Apple afficionados like to point out, Apple is first and foremost a hardware company. Selling services as your major business is something entirely different. Also, if this guy would be spot on I would have expected iTMS to be a major revenue generator, and that it ain’t.
I also have a serious problem with Steve Jobs CEO-ing it over anything wal-mart. “The problem with Microsoft is that they have no taste, no taste at all.” Would he be the ultimate commoditizer? Use his hardware just to sell other peoples product? I do really have a problem with this. Being a service provider is so not “the whole widget”. It’s a bit like BMW going into busses and trains just to be able to haul more people. Or B&O turning into a chain of commercial radio stations. I just don’t see it happening.
My hunch would be more along the lines of being a great enabler of all these services and selling gorgeous hardware to run them on, just like today. I see nothing today or in the forseeable future that contradicts this.

I think America started to die when people stayed indoors with their TV, and homes no longer had porches. The value of friendship and neighbors was replaced with ego-centrism. Sad. The beginning of the end. Creating more ways and reasons to stay confined creates paranoia personalities. No? Look at the news. They make their money from creating FUD although it has absolutely nothing to do with you. The whole country is paranoid. The terrorists have truly won! My little town of 1200 people was given $15,000 for terror/riot equipment.
We are addicted to computers and TV, and the media knows how to use that addiction against us. Don’t you ever wonder why 2000 people dying in a building 5 years ago affects you more than 1,000,000 people dying EACH YEAR from mass genocide, disease and starvation in Africa? It’s the media hype. Buildings collapsing is more dramatic than watching a 5 year old boy slowly starve to death. You were TOLD what to care about, and you mindlessly do. You care more about watching a kids game being played by millionaires (American football) than that 5 year old.

So the question is not about censorship (hello, only the government can forbid publication); it’s about what they want to do with their site. If you poop in someone else’s backyard enough times, eventually they don’t let you come over any more. It’s the same thing here. It’s really not hard to understand.
What is hard to understand is why people think any private entity has any responsibility to give them a platform to say stuff. Wal-Mart has no such responsibility; MDN has no such responsibility; neither does my blog, nor does yours. Free speech means you have the right to speak. It doesn’t mean that you get a free platform on every porch you want just because you have a mouth. It means you can talk all day on your own porch.
