  1. If there is still no vid support than I call Bulls@#t. There is no Fu@#$ng excuse for a company the size of Microsoft not being able to have the video chat in it’s Mac offering. This is just a way for MS to get the kids to say”mac’s suck, msn doesn’t work on it” Anticompetitive assho@#s.

    F@#k MS.

  2. Messenger for Mac 6.0 makes it easy to take advantage of the full power of instant messaging, and it is a Universal application built to run on both PowerPC-based and Intel-based Macs. This update allows Messenger for Mac users to:

    Chat with Yahoo! Messenger contacts
Add a status message that your personal contacts can see
Share what you are listening to in iTunes with your personal contacts
Create, send, and receive custom emoticons with personal contacts
Send and receive custom animated emoticons with personal contacts
Search for conversation histories using Spotlight
Check the spelling in your instant messages

Wow, that is some useful upgrade…
I’ll be sticking with Aduim and AMSN.

  3. The messenger for mac team, in a recent interview, said that video support would be coming to MSN for Mac in version 7, mostly because of the difficulty of getting the protocols for webcamming on both platforms to be compatible.

  4. Finally, they’ve got some of the basics in there… but true to form, it’s underwhelming… using MSN Messenger is a necessary evil to keep in touch with friends who still haven’t made the switch to Mac or Mac users that are too lazy to use iChat. (fist to sky) DAMN, YOU MICROSOFT!

  5. Can anyone tell me how to get my wife hooked up with video chat and MS Messenger? She has friends that all use Messenger because they are Peruvian and it seems the whole of central and south American are uterly dependent upon the Microsoft monopoly. They even use Powerpoint to send freaking images!!! It’s so frustrating. As tho they can’t just send jpegs they have to put them in PPT!!! It’s maddening.

Adium and AMSN? Is that a combo that will work and with what cameras?

I mean come on if Yahoo, Skype and Apple can do it without delaying it for years… why can’t Microsoft?

  7. Hey Yo Momma,

You can try AMSN. There are a lot of people having trouble getting it to work well though. The current version requires changes to your settings on the firewall/router.

Too bad there’s no pluggin for iChat to work with Yahoo! or MSN.

  8. Installed. Won’t even let me sign in. Oh well, wasn’t planning on using it anyway. I just feel sorry for all those PC’ers that can’t get their brain around the fact that they don’t *need* to use MS’s product.

    MW: no *better*, actually worse

  9. What is a good program to do video/audio chat with some one on a PC when I have a Mac?? I’ve tried using ichat on my mac but the person on the pc end has to use AOL and the video is super small.

    Any suggestions would be great. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  10. Microsoft releases Smoke Signals 6. Connect with friends almost two blocks away! Let your friends know what’s going on with you at home.* ** ***

    * Not to be used in any sort of breeze.
** “Letting friends know” does not mean actual understanding, recognition, connection, or semblance thereof
    *** Fire provided by Sony

  11. It says a lot when the only software MS can get out the door is MAC OS software.

It also says a lot when that software is a piddly IM client with no video support.

All direct to us, fresh from the labs of the world’s biggest richest software company. LOL.

my friends use AOL Triton and it seems to work fine. we’ve had no issues, but I can’t tell you a thing about how to set it up.

I can however.. find you the windows version download page…
