“Apple has begun publishing tech support documents to address some reported bugs in iTunes 7,” Jonny Evans reports for Macworld UK.
“The release of the software generated the usual wave of fault reports, mainly (but not exclusively) from Windows users of the application. These reports seem to have been picked up by an Apple-fixated media,” Evans reports. “Apple’s discussion boards seem to host multiple complaints, with some Mac users reporting that the software seems a little less stable than before.”
Evans reports, “The company has begun addressing some issues within its published technical support notes. Some reported faults or missing features may reflect interface changes, Music Videos, for example, are no longer grouped with Movies, though iTunes 7 automatically creates a Smart Playlist to collect them, which is available in the Playlists pane.”

For those who’ve asked – thanks for asking – we use Intel-powered Macs exclusively to run iTunes 7 (70) on Mac OS X 10.4.7 (8J2135a) and have encountered no issues with the application. If you are having issues, we hope the new support docs address them. We hear an iTunes 7 update is coming soon.

I’ve installed it on 3 macs and 2 XP machines with no issues as well, although, there obviously are some conflicts with something out there, I just can’t seem to generate any with my windows or Mac boxes.
I’ve had two probles with iTunes 7 on a Mac. The album art doesn’t always find everything. AND Coverflow is slow when flipping through art on my MAC PRO Dual 3.0 Dual Core with 256MB graphics.
I hope those are resolved soon.

only issue i have noticed is my handbraked movies now not appearing in hacked front row, this could be because i cannot (yet) install the latest front row update. input welcome.
My G5 iMac has crashed 3 times since I installed iTunes 7 and the playback is glitchy…Apple..please hurry with an update!!!

dunno if this is a problem but my album art has never been updated by the itms (despite the album being there), and for me too cover flip is very slow (but then again, i do have a g4 mac mini)
CoverFlow needs more work, it’s good, really good, but just needs a bit more tweaking.
I’m sure Apple are onto it. After all, iTunes is IMO the most important app for OS X at the moment, there’s no way they’d let it become a turkey.
No real problems with iTunes 7, G5 tower and G4 Laptop. But, when grouping multiple tracks then control clicking to clear artwork it won’t clear. I have to got to each track, clear the art, and then it will download new art for me.

I cannot see another iTunes libraries videos on the same iMac, the iTunes library being run as another user on the same iMac.
iTunes 7 is great but it crashes frequently on my Macbook and on my Windows machine. I’ve had no problems with it on my Intel Mac mini so far. I’m hoping the update will be available very soon.
The trouble with IT7 is that you cannot play music with 6.0.5 over your local network.
I have an old g3 and use it in the living room to listen to my music which is on my G4.
As soon I installed it7 it stoped streaming.
I removed iT7 from the G4 and re-installed iT6 and every thing is back to normal.

No issues here – though CoverFlow is slow on certain (non iTunes?) album covers when flipping quickly on my MacBook Pro w/256MB of VRAM.
Where can you find iTunes 6x?
I have two windows XP’s on the same subnet. Cannot share protected audio files, even though both computer are authorized. ???
My only issue is that CoverFlow has a memory leak… After loading all of the album art in CoverFlow, I can get up to 920MB of active memory, and not all of it is released after I quit iTunes. Normally I have about 200-300MB of active memory without iTunes open, but after messing with CoverFlow, I’m over 400 even after I’ve closed the app.
Come on iTunes 7.1…
FYI: I have trouble playing the new movies at full screen on my G4 mac mini with a 24″ monitor. It’s just black. Sometimes I’m able to hear the audio continue, other times it’s silent.
I’ve had a virus for about three days now. Well, maybe it’s just a sinus infection…
Bad news -it does make audiobooks sound scratchy on my 5g iPod. I will investigate further and report back to MDN
I have noticed the somewhat scratchy sound, but the fix that was posted is only for Windows. Is there a way to reset bit rate and depth in either QuickTime or iTunes preferences??
anyone had their itunes play backwards? like play one song then play the song before it?
Everything works ok for me but Apple should be ashamed for this. This is the kinda of crappy quality that I’d expect from Microsoft but not from Apple.
Absolutely no problems here. Using iTunes 7 on a Mac Mini Core Duo 1.66 and an iBook G4 1.33, both with Tiger 10.4.7. I suppose many of the problems are related to system hacks like ‘Uno’. I’ve tried it once and messed up some stuff so… no more system hacks here.
On a 6 year old dual G4 tower, with OS X 10.4.7 & the latest iTunes, I have experienced no problems except that many of my old CDs don’t seem to have album art available.
Coverflow works very smoothly and very rapidly – too fast sometimes as the cover art I’m looking for zips right by!
No other problems noted in playback or in adding new material to the library.
BTW, the G4 has only 512MB of very stock RAM.
Moral of the story: if your new super Intel Mac is giving you trouble with iTunes, why not trade up to a 6 year old one such as mine?
