Apple’s iTunes 7 contains iPhone clues

“An Apple analyst said Friday there is further proof the computer company will soon make its own iTunes-enabled cell phone,” E. Cubarrubia reports for Red Herring.

“Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said in a research note, ‘We believe there is more tangible evidence of the existence of the iPhone from the resource files in the new iTunes 7.’ He was referring to reports that the latest iTunes software, which was released Tuesday, has messages that suggest features for a mobile phone, such as messages about copying games and synching photos to mobile phones,” Cubarrubia reports.

Cubarrubia reports, “Mr. Munster said such features are not on the ROKR phone that was jointly developed by Apple and Motorola and released last October. ‘This resource file message suggests there will be a phone that will be capable of synching with iTunes, and that the phone will support iTunes and photos,’ Mr. Munster said in the report. He added, ‘We believe this phone is most likely the iPhone, with an outside chance the message is in reference to an upcoming phone from a current phone manufacturer.'”

  1. I think the phone items are so E.T. can actually phone home if he finds himself in an Apple store.

See how this works. Another idiot has made an Apple product prediction. Now if Apple does not follow my bonehead recommendation I can have their stock price lowered.

Please look at Job’s Tuesday presentation to see how much the speculators actually know. People need to stop Monday Morning Quaterbacking Mr. Jobs. I think he has proven that he knows what he is doing.

  2. Their dropping prices on the iPods, in part, to bring in the iPhone at a higher price. The iPhone will be like a top-of-line iPod, or uber-iPod.

    Mark my words (no pun intended) ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  3. Would someone please explain to me why Apple would want to sabotage iPod sales by including a music player in the iPhone? Won’t many buyers of an mp3-enabled iPhone decide that they no longer need to buy an iPod?

  4. “Would someone please explain to me why Apple would want to sabotage iPod sales by including a music player in the iPhone?”

If Apple does this, it will be because they have concuded that the market is going to go phone/mp3 player (or other integrated device) anyway. To conclude this, and not design and produce an entry into that space would be gross mismanagement. The market is fickle. A new product could come along and totally displace what seems today unassailable. If that product is destined to appear, the Apple wants it to be an Apple brand tied to the iTunes universe. It’s that simple.

  5. I don’t think Apple is sabotaging their ipod sales with and iphone. I use a Treo for business for email and telecommunications. I still use an ipod for the gym and or my own enjoyment. The battery life on most all convergence devices is horrible. So if you listening to your favorite tunes, get a call and have email pushed or fetched from your iphone that would be a nightmare for any business user.

It would be fine for the casual user be even then, people talk on their phone endlessly. I think we are still a bit off from a true mobile entertainment/telecommunications convergence devices.

I would love a Sirius Satellite, ipod, mobile phone (since I use all three now) but I think even Mr. Jobs has his limits =)

Come one the Sirius ipod! Great name! Sirius Value!

Someone already owns maybe my dream device is in the works?
