What kind of green are ‘environmental extortionists’ really after?

“When I began writing the Apple and the Media series, I expected to find lots of examples of companies, individuals, and journalists suing Apple or otherwise using the company’s name for a free ride,” Daniel Eran writes for RoughlyDrafted. “I didn’t expect to uncover a conspiracy of greed, blackmail, protection money, and other mob tactics hiding under the sheep’s clothing of environmentalism.”

“Are certain environmental groups adopting the Overture / Google Paid Search business model? First hand reports from Apple employees say the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition approached Steve Jobs asking for money shortly after staging its first MacWorld demonstration against Apple,” Eran writes.

Eran writes, “Job reportedly ended the discussion immediately. Does paying off the SVTC protect companies from the wrath of its publicity stunts? The SVTC talks about environmental goals, but doesn’t support their conspicuous rage against Apple with facts. What kind of green are they really after?”

“Of the thousands of tech companies that ring the toxic San Francisco bay in the Silicon Valley Toxic Coalition’s backyard, only Apple showed up repeatedly in their list of attack PR stunts throughout the year,” Eran reports.

  1. Big Al,

It’s really not too difficult to understand the concept of moderation. By your extremist logic, everyone is a hypocrite. Isn’t that the whole point Jesus makes? We are all sinners, it’s impossible to live a perfect life? So why are you so judgmental on people who are living a more green life than other people. No-one’s perfect, not even you there, Big Al.

  2. s:

Actually, the New Republicans favor small government, less rules and less spending when it comes to educational funding, protecting our environment, and social programs for individual Americans. Who needs that crap though? If we just ignore the environment, it will go away. Just like the homeless and elderly. I’m so proud to be an American.

  3. Okay, so I looked at the article and read that Apple is a very green company and has extremely high standards for protecting the environment. The Greenpeace study sounds like it was more about rating goals to improve green policy, rather than rating current policy. Since Apple is already way ahead, they don’t have the goals the other companies do.

So it sounds like our favorite computer company, Apple, is pretty solidly a green company already. The article is criticizing a particular study that Greenpeace did, not liberals in general.

s: did you even read what I said?

  4. So Gstank it’s interesting that you liberal piles of crap love Iran and the terrorists. They want to kill you and purge you from their societies yet you still think if you’re nice to them they will see the light. You will see the light of a nuke going off in a city near you if you don’t change your ways and bring these muslim nazis to their knees with pure force and only force. They will not listen to dialogue.

  5. Folks,

The article written by Daniel Eran, and reposted by MDN here, is full of incomplete information, rumor, innuendo, and guilt by association.

Eran’s work is a typical blog, meaning that he freely uses inflammatory language, makes bald assertions without backing them up, he paints misleading pictures by selective facts or sources, and he does not actually interview anyone he writes about.

Eran also has no expertise in chemical policy or environmental issues, nor does he possession any journalism qualificiations.

When his previous allegations were scrutinized, they evaporated and had no merit.

When challenged to back up his assertions with sources and facts, Eran’s response has been to delete comments and ban people from his blog, rather than engage in actual debate on the merits of the issue.

In short, Eran’s work is not responsible journalism, and his allegations should be taken with a huge grain of salt, until and unless they are independently verified.

MDN should be ashamed of itself for reposting unverified and unreliable articles such as this.

  6. Blow me, Frank.

    magic word- “shall”,
As in “you SHALL blow me, Frank”.

    Wanda, are you stupid?
My son is politically astute, he reads from informed sources, and does not wish to waste time reading political viewpoints on a site like this.
    Get it?

Here. this is a good source, by way of example=

  7. Actually, Frank, Lenin had some pretty good ideas, did he not?
And remember, Frank, during the Revolutionary War, (to quote a Fox News style here) “”There are those who say” that many in the word refered to us as Terrorists, not Freedom Fighters.
    Did you know that Frank?

Why do YOU think the “haters of freedom” hate us Frank?
    Any ideas?

    Come on, don’t be shy.
You SOUND like a REAL GENIUS!

Hey Wanda, dod you and Cindy know each other?

  8. So Gstank it’s interesting that you liberal piles of crap love Iran and the terrorists and blah blah blah.

Get off the meds, you fucknut monkey boy. Or better yet, do the world a favor and just off yourself. All you do is breath valuable air.

  9. Wow,

This always right or usually right character is really off their rocker. Left wing lunatic. If that person can’t see the difference between the US Revolutionary war and CRAZY MUSLIM TERRORISTS there’s no point even acknowleding it/him/her whatever. I feel very sorry for this lunatics 14 year old.
