More new Apple “Get a Mac” ads – one featuring Gisele Bündchen – seen in Apple Retail Store

“I wasn’t able to get the videos themselves, but some great screen shots of 3 upcoming ads in Apple’s ‘Get a Mac’ campaign,” Nick Starr reports.

Starr reports, “One of the ads even features a cross-dresser. There was no volume so I wasn’t able to hear what was being said, but I think there was a mention to a girlfriend.”

“The second one features the ‘Mac guy’ in a suit. The PC ends up on the floor in this one,” Starr reports. “Last, there seems to be some anomisity [sic] between the two and they go to therapy to resolve their issues.”

“I’m sure these ads will be out soon,” Starr writes.

Not that Starr is wrong, but the possibility does exist that Apple has some ads designed to run only in Apple Retail Stores and not on television. Now, because we’ve written that, Apple will probably post these ads online via QuickTime this afternoon and start airing them nationwide on the major U.S. TV networks tonight.

We believe that’s Gisele Bündchen playing the Mac’s girlfriend (possibly as the embodiment of Mac OS X vs. the disgustingly bad imitation that is Windows, as “Andy C.” theorizes below). Back in May, Brazilian-model Bündchen reported via her official website that she had “recently posed for Apple Computer, Inc. to represent their Macintosh computer line,” so that report would now make sense if that is indeed Ms. Bündchen seen in the video stills. 1. I think the Get a Mac ads have done a great job of raising awareness that there exists in the market place a better alternative to Windows PCs.

    Great, phase one completed.

Now can we see ads that show the actual product? How many of the Windows masses out there think the iMac shown at the end of the ad just a monitor? My guess most of them. It’s not possible to show off OS X in a 30 second spot but at least show off the hardware.

    That’s my 2 cents worth.

Don’t they show off the hardware at the end of every ad? What else do you want? They even demonstrate the maglock at the end in one of the ads.

  3. Show the hardware? I’m not sure it’s necessary right now… if ever. The hardware continues to change and the ads, sans hardware are timeless.
I have a work buddy who has been writing code on a Windoze PeeCee for decades (2 anyway) and his take on the Apple Get a Mac ad’s is “Brilliant… simply brilliant. I want a mac.”
And this is without any hardware being shown.

  4. Showing the actual product doesn’t work for Apple, which relies on its brand to move computers. How effective was the PowerMac blowing the user through the house ad?

What is considered the greatest commercial of all time? The 1984 commercial that was directed by Ridley Scott (who also directed “Blade Runner,” “Gladiator” and “Black Hawk Down”). Did we see Macs in that?

I bet if the commercial had spent 30 seconds showing off the OS or the hardware, it would have been forgotten in a couple of months. The fact that the OS and the hardware isn’t the focus of Apple’s recent ads makes them timeless – people still remember and talk about them years after they first aired.

I mean, heck, people still remember and talk about the Think Different and Switch commercials today! Does anyone here remember any IBM, HP or Dell commercials?

In fact, probably the only Dell commercial anyone remembers is the Dell Dude – no one remembers the hardware or the prices. And if you want to keep adding to your brand, you need to focus on the long term.

  5. NewType:

    You’re right.

In fact, the Dell guy was Dell’s most successful series of ads. I recall most people hated him, too, yet somehow it sold tonnes of computers.

Mention that whenever someone complains about the “Get a Mac” ads.

  6. Does anyone here remember any IBM, HP or Dell commercials?

I remember the Blue Band, but not who they advertised for.

There’s this series of office ads on TV right now with a server room that goes nuts, might be Xerox, don’t know for sure.

I think Intel had aliens once…

The Apple ads are always memorial.

  7. The two girls represent movies made in the OS’s respective programs. the therepy ad has Mac telling PC “You’re great with numbers and dress like a gentlemen” PC tells Mac “You are good at movies and pictures, and creative things, which are stupid and pointless anyway” The theripist responds, “You should come back twice a weekk” The two suit where PC falls I have not heard yet.

  8. My movies would definitely not look like the stick figure that is Gisele Bundchen. They would be rich and vibrant. They would look like Catherine Zeta-Jones, or maybe Beyonce Knowles. Heck, look at Gisele, a bag of bones. The cross dresser looks more healthy hate to say.

  9. Catherine Zeta Jones, you must be joking? The old welsh haddock may look good on the outside but inside she sure has nothing I would want associated with a Mac. Supeficiality over substance is not what we need however good she looks in soft focus.

  10. Forget them both … I prefer women with curves!/b> theNewMacDude has a couple of suggestions, then there’s Catherine Bell, Charisma Carpenter, Alyssa Milano, Lynda Carter … is it getting warm in here?
    ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”cheese” style=”border:0;” />
<spyinthesky, what’s “Supeficiality”? Anyway … we’re not talking about are these ‘nice people’, or ‘role models’, or even ‘sane’ … actually, that was the reason I left both (pre-surgery) Shannon Doherty and (OMG) Angelina Jolie off my list … here, we’re talking about ‘good looking’. Actually, my list tends towards women who are less superficial than most and less unbalanced than most (most of the class of ‘very attractive women with large public followings’).

Gisele Bündchen, Twiggy, Mia Farrow, and Paris Hilton do not do it for me.

  11. spyinthesky…

Your response leads me to believe that you may be a PC user. Your take is sort of similar to the old saw, Macs are pretty but my PC has a better processor inside. Who cares if my PC looks like crap, it’ll outperform your toy Mac, etc, etc, etc…

Zeta-Jones is apparently good enough for T-Mobile Ads.

  12. Actually, I was chuckling over the one where the Mac is in a suit.

I went and looked at the PC in a few of the videos. His suits always look “off the rack”–” rel=”nofollow”>a little wrinkled, not an exact fit–where this time the Mac looks impeccable.

I have no idea what the ad is about from the images, but that caught my eye right off.

  13. I think the hot chick is too skinny. They should have hired

a more voluptuous woman. You know, to represent how

    feature rich OS X is! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
