Apani Networks announces VPN Support for Apple Macs

Apani Networks, the leading enterprise data protection software provider focused on securing inside the network perimeter, today announced VPN support for Intel-based Macintosh. This new release of the Apani VPN client software provides enhanced security and ease-of-use features to help users of Intel-based Macs running Mac OS X Tiger to securely and seamlessly connect to their Nortel Contivity VPN gateway.

The Intel VPN client has many of the same security and connectivity features as Apani’s family of VPN clients. New features included in Version 3.4 include:
• Full VPN security and authenticated access to Intel-based Apple computers and notebooks running Mac OS X
• Ease-of-deployment, ease-of-use features
• Ideal for new MacBook notebook computers

“The release of our Intel VPN client for the Mac OS X Tiger demonstrates our continued commitment to our VPN client customers as the Mac platform continues to evolve,” said David M. Lynch, vice president of worldwide marketing, in the press release. “Apani continues to work closely with engineers at both Apple and Intel to ensure functionality and interoperability for Apani VPN users seeking to use new Mac computers enabled with Intel chips. This client allows VPN users to easily upgrade to the new Intel-based Apple computers and notebooks running Mac OS X Tiger.”

Apani’s Intel VPN client for Mac version requires a Macintosh computer (Intel or Power Mac G4 or G5) running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4, a CD-ROM drive, 20 MB of free disk space, and 128 MB of RAM. The Apani software is scheduled for July 12th, 2006 availability.

  1. Have you noticed more Mac support flowing more quickly lately? Some companies are reading the writing on the wall better and earlier than others.

Uh, it’s just a Intel processor software upgrade from a previous PPC software.

Really nothing to see, it’s to be expected if the company wishes to continue serving the Mac market.

    Now where is Adobe?

  2. The downside of this is, of course, that it may not work in Leopard. I remember the upgrade to Tiger broke nearly all third-party networking applications, especially VPN.

MW: effects – What will be the long term effects of Leopard on third-party networking?
