“Apple V-P Europe Pascal Cagni has sent e-mail to authorized resellers outlining new contract conditions that seem to set the stage for Apple’s own retail stores in the country. Essentially, Apple will no longer license the term ‘Apple Center,’ but would call them ‘Premium Providers.’ In addition, the use of the word ‘Apple’ or ‘Mac’ would be nearly eliminated for resellers,” ifoAppleStore reports.

MacDailyNews Note: Just an FYI, unrelated to the above except for location: Each year, Apple attends the Apple Expo in Paris. The 23rd annual Apple Expo runs September 12 -16. More info: http://www.apple-expo.com/

I wonder how the stores will be received if Apple closes the French iTunes store.
1st? -from Malaysia
Damn it. A second too late…
If applt closes the iTMS store, will it effect iPod sales?
“If applt closes the iTMS store, will it effect iPod sales?”
…you’re drunk, right?
Apple is not going to close the French iTunes Music Store. France significantly watered down the bill that would have tried to force Apple to open up their DRM.
Now we know why the French “watered down the bill”. They wanted Apple stores in France !!
Cue the idiotic France-haters in 3,2,1….
This isn’t news. Apple previously announced they have been scouting locations in France.

Apple’s glass cube will look great next to the Louvre’s glass triangle!
er, make that pyramid.
Actually, the Apple glass cube looks a LOT better than the glass pyramid outside the Louvre. IMHO
I just saw the Davinci Code (enjoyed it: A-) on the weekend where the Louvre pyramid was in numerous shots.
This name change is taking place all over Europe, not just France.
The same email was sent to AppleCentres in Holland.
More Apple Retail Stores to come?
Having been to the Louvre, you really have to see the glass in person to truly appreciate it. It’s a stark contrast from the rest of the architecture and it’s impact (visually speaking) is very effective.
MDN MW: modern. How does it do that?
