  1. the way it works is hat you buy from them and then never get the rebate. do a google search and find out about this scam.
my sister bought an iBook in December and never got the rebate, even though everything was done online.

  2. Anyone know how to turn it off???

The true power user way to turn it off is to edit your /etc/hosts file and to include the following line at the end of the file:

    0.0.0.0macdailynews.us.intellitxt.com

Note that this is a normally hidden file so you will have to “find” it to edit it. For an editor, I use TextWrangler (free, get it at http://www.barebones.com/ ) which handles hidden files well (special entry on the “File” menu).

Do this, and it will be like MDN never started with those ads. Then you don’t need to muck with other software, changing Safari settings, etc.

  3. We looked into this..

The rebate deadline is a month before the promised ship date.
It would take time travel to get the UPC code to them on time.
