  1. first!

    . . . . . . but I really haven’t much to say

except the rumor mills are getting out of line – and now companies have to release statements because the rumors may begin to affect their stock negatively

  2. The other Mark –

I agree with you here. That was not exactly a strong denial of the rumor. It was more like a child caught in a cookie jar denial.

With stocks fluxing wildly with the Fed and Oil news..one would think they would want to distance themselves from rumors that could not possibly be true.

  3. “It is rather far fetched that Apple would do such a local deal. I mean sure Apple would do another ‘cripled’ iTunes phone deal as they did with Motorola, but they would not co-develop with anybody an iPod killer.”

Cripled? Cripes! Are iPod killers trained to be killers or are they born that way?

  4. ‘Guesswork’ doesn’t mean its wrong it simply implies that any information, true or otherwise, didn’t come from Softbank, or at least they are denying that is the case. Means nothing one way or the other but as there was no outright denial it may well imply that some discussions have/are going on about the possibility at least, or maybe it was simply a polite enquiry which no doubt every interested party have done at some stage or other.

  5. A phone with an iPod would be fine. An iPod with a phone would not.

The phones are generally simple, reliable devices.

I and everyone I know have had to sent our iPods in for service far too many times. If my phone was attached to that kind of unreliable device, I would pass.
