I love the way Apple’s engineers fully think through the user interface in their OS and Apps. As I’ve started purchasing more video content from the iTunes Music Store the word “music” has increasingly seemed out of date. As”rasterbator” suggested, I hope Apple updates the name of the store soon to reflect the full scope of what they offer.

e-books already come with some album purchases. this is nothing new.

While this is cool and all, there’s nothing in that patent app that actually “hints” at anything new for the iTMS.
They’re patenting what they’re already doing; many albums already are coming with included videos and PDF e-books. Yes, all of that could also be used for longer videos, including full-length movies, and books that are a little more in-depth than the CD liner notes … but nothing in this patent is related to that.
This patent just covers a means of bundling playable media with non-playable media, and presenting it in a usable fashion.
I repeat again — it’s stupid stupid stupid to think anyone, anyone, anyone will watch a movie on the ipod screen no matter how big it is. Stupid.

A bill in Congress right now would allow ISP’s to degrade or deny service to some sites on the Internet. 1st tier service would be for their content and their business partners. Lower levels or outright blockage would be for everybody else. If you doubt that AT&T, Verizon and others would not use this against Apple, Google and others you are crazy.
Now is the time to contact your members of Congress and tell them you want Net Neutrality and will remember their vote come election day. All of the House and 1/3rd of the Senate is up in November. A polite, but firm e-mail will do very nicely.
You know what to do.
It would be nice to see the new iTunes iteration store movies in the “Movies” folder (or a folder of your choice) instead of the “Music” folder. It’s a little like hitting “Start” on a Windows box to shut off the computer.
Better yet, how about letting the user store those space-hogging movies on a remote HD, while still keeping the tunes local.
It’s hard to find something to bitch about with iTunes…

Agreed – but it’s really nice nice nice to be able to take a bunch of movies around on an iPod and play them on different TV’s. Like, for example, at work… Only when nothing’s going on, though…

A ‘media’ store sounds cheap. Like something you’d associate with Windows Media Player – a generic and boring name intended to encompass all while sounding like what you need. I hope they don’t change it to that.
