  1. I’m so excited!! Firewire 800 is baaaaaack!

This laptop looks like a winner, I’ll wait to see how much it’s hobbled/defects though before plunking down $4000.

Anyone who gets this, I highly advise getting the maximum RAM and the 7,200 RPM hard drive for maximum performance, also AppleCare.

This laptop will be a hot seller!!

  2. biggieG says “a $2800+ 7 lb laptop is not what Apple needs to gain marketshare.”

Well, a $2800 7lb laptop IS what Apple needs for it’s PRO USERS. The consumer level and priced MacBook is coming soon. Quit your bitching.

  3. “a $2800+ 7 lb laptop is not what Apple needs to gain marketshare.”

Toshiba’s G35-AV600 17″ notebook is $2,400, features a slower Core Duo and weighs over 10lbs. Plus, it only runs one OS.

  4. Portable Performance
Thanks to the PowerPC G4 processor with Velocity Engine, every PowerBook packs a tremendous punch for doing everything from numerical computations to editing video and designing show-stopping presentations.

    Twin Power
The Intel Core Duo and a whole new architecture give MacBook Pro up to five times the horsepower of PowerBook G4.

We are at war with Eurasia. We have always been at war with Eurasia…

  5. Well I was excited there for a minute, but I’ll wait until Apple gets serious about security before buying anymore of their hardware.

What’s the use in having a laptop that can run Windows and Linux in a window, be portable and fast if Mac OS X gets exploited everytime i download a file or visit websites on the internet?

I already have a kick ass machine that’s faster than the new MacBook Pro, sure it doesn’t do Windows, but am I really excited about running Windows? Perhaps I really am, after all I miss all the games Windows has.

Of course a hobbled MacBook Pro won’t play games fast because of the video card, then again it’s not upgradable. So do I really need this laptop? Perhaps to show my firends I can run three operating systems (or more) at once. Wow, SuperGeek! Make a real hit with the ladies I’m sure (not). Who will I impress? nobody but myself. “Hey look at my new toy, it runs three operating systems at once!”

Big deal for about 5 minutes of conversation and then it’s done. Is it worth $4000 to have a fragile laptop?

Well the optical and firewire is nice, can take my camera along with it on trips, load up my iPod and play Windows games. I just won’t hook it up to the internet that’s all.

$4000, hmmm the way gas is I don’t take many trips, well plane trips. Short car trips, but then I don’t want to drag a laptop. Oh fsck it, will it run Vista? That’s the future and we won’t know until the holidays, by then the laptop will be half obsolete.
