I like when he says that the back is really durable, and when he slips the iPod into his pocket.
I kept my iPod in my pocket for a couple of hours, noticed that the back and screen were getting totally scratched up from rubbing against the cotton cloth of my pocket, and moved the iPod to its case instead.
The case it came with continued to scratch it up every time I removed or replaced the iPod. Finally I just gave up and figured I would have to settle for a nicely working, yet scratched all to hell iPod.
Five years later, and Apple finally has a solution – a $99 case! Brilliant!
duncan, that’s because USB 2 offers 400 Kb/s while firewire offers 480 Kb/s. So, the difference is not that drastic. Enjoy.
Brilliant. Apple was so far ahead of the curve, and so many people thought this was a flop.
Interesting that:
-The crowds were smaller then
-There was no Keynote app for the slideshow, but the slides were simple and beautiful, just like now
-iBook really is dated after 5 years. It’s had a great run, now it’s high time for a replacement
-Steve doesn’t look any older now…that hyperbaric chamber has paid for itself, and then some

And I would also like to say that Firewire 400 loads the iPod considerably faster than USB 2.
USB 2 just plain suks a$$$$.
IT has it backwards: FireWire offers 400 Kb/s and USB 2 offers 480 Kb/s. However, all USB 2 devices share that bandwidth evenly, while FireWire gives out its bandwidth only as needed.
The moral? Hook your iPod directly up to your computer; don’t use a hub.

watching this i remeber why i am still hanging on to my very first 5GB iPod which I bought of the very first batch at the MacExpo in London (nov 2001)
Amazing.
So MANY of the people sitting in that room simply didn’t understand the history they were watching as it was being done.

Its not a small crowd- its a full room. It just wasn’t unveiled at a MacWorld.
The crowds were that small recently when they launched iPod Hi-fi a month or so ago.
