Hairdresser pleads guilty, sentenced in Kevin Costner PowerBook theft

“An Aspen hair designer pleaded guilty Monday to misdemeanor theft for stealing Kevin Costner’s laptop computer in 2004. In the hearing Monday, Pascal Bensimon told Pitkin County District Court Judge James Boyd that he was sorry for the problems he caused by stealing the laptop on the day the actor wed Christine Baumgartner,” The Rocky Mountain News reports. “Bensimon was sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation and 25 hours of community service, and was ordered to pay $1,500 restitution.”

The Rocky Mountain News reports, “Bensimon’s arrest affidavit said that Bensimon’s son contacted the laptop’s manufacturer, Apple Computer, to get a new password and gave the serial number of Costner’s laptop. A security consultant hired by Costner contacted the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, which interviewed Bensimon.”
