Today’s Joy of Tech comic harks back to William Shatner’s 1986 “Get A Life!” Saturday Night Live sketch in which Shatner, as Captain Kirk at a Star Trek Convention exhorted Trekkies to “get a life” and asked whether they had “ever kissed a girl?”
The Joy of Tech comic replaces Shatner’s Kirk with Apple CEO Steve Jobs onstage at Apple’s recent media event where the new Intel-based Mac mini and iPod Hi-Fi speaker system was introduced.

Cool. Apple dating service.
I pointed this out in the “Apple CEO Jobs’ announcements last week interesting because of what he chose not to say” thread after BuriedCaesar linked to it.
Nice to know I can contribute ( pats self on back ). ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”cheese” style=”border:0;” />
How will my existence be made livable without the trembling anticipation brought about by vivid fantasies of the next rumored Apple product?
Oh, well. Back to reality.
I think this cartoon should be dedicated to the Apple fanboys that work at MDN and visit the site.
we should start a riot. Steve Jobs (pbuh) should not be the subject of satire .
Funny, but true.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the stats on this site showed most of the posters are on Win boxes.
Of course they may have a Mac at home, but they are coming here while at work.
And we all know PC’s are quite annoyingly abundant at workplaces.
I dunno. I don’t think I have ever laughed at that comic. I mean, I get their jokes, I just don’t find them particularly funny. I find the comic boring, same 99.9% of all webcomics.
“MacDailyNews Take: Not funny. Not funny at all!”
I wonder how many people this really hits home with?? It’s funny but at the same time so true. I mean honestly, if you’re actually involved in real life, you don’t have time to argue over a computer. Most normal people prefer to prioritize social interaction over spending hours of making fake pictures of Apple new product wet dream fantasies.
The COMIC is HOMOPHOBIC!!!!! Not everyone WANTS to KISS girls MDN!!!!! Hang YOUR head IN shame!!!!!!!!!!!! AND William Shatner TOO!!!!!
That IS it!!!! I am OUT of HERE for EVER!!!!!! For EVER I SAY!!!!
(slam)
Is life without a Mac really life?
WOW! An Apple dating service. Cool!
I like kissing boys.
LordRobin,
They actually used to BE funny, then a few years ago, they lost it. I mean, check out this one from 2000:

Too bad the cartoonist didn’t know how to spell “disappointed.”
Yes, I know I’m being picky. So sue me. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
Okay, that one’s going up in the photo lab where I work. (we don’t call it a darkroom anymore, the Mac’s don’t require the dark)
And I thought I was the evil steve?
In further news, “Saturday Night Live” is no longer funny. But that puts them ahead of the game:
“Joy of Tech” has never been funny.
How the hell do you spell disappointed, idiot?
