Intel to provide IT training to Palestinians with new IT education center in Gaza Strip

“Intel, the world’s largest semiconductor company, is planning to build the first information technology education center in the volatile Gaza Strip,” The Associated Press reports. “The Intel Information Technology Center of Excellence is intended to provide IT training to Palestinians and stimulate development of high-tech industry in an area where half the labor force is unemployed. The center is being developed in conjunction with Washington, D.C.-based American Near East Refugee Aid and the Islamic University of Gaza.”

“Intel has had a presence in Israel for more than three decades, but over the past few years has launched an initiative to also expand its investments in the Arab world. The center is the company’s first large project in the Palestinian territories, an area where American corporate involvement is rare,” AP reports. “Construction is expected to begin in about two months, with completion a year later. The cost to build and equip the center will only be about $1 million, Gubser said, because a dollar goes a lot farther in the Middle East. Though the security situation in Gaza is not good, Gubser believes the willingness of Intel to be an American corporate pioneer in the Gaza Strip may encourage other American corporations to follow.”

  1. Maybe if the Palestinians weren’t so violently oppressed by Israel, they wouldn’t be so desperate as to feel they have no recourse but to resort to suicide bombings.

I think this is a great idea. Kudos for Intel. Hope more western companies follow suit.

  2. Not to get political or anti-semitic, but actually the Palestinians have been wronged. I don’t mean to offend person, just take a look at history.

There was no Israel in that area of the world for over 2000 years, and then it only existed completely for a generation or two.

Arabs who controled Palestine for all those years allowed Jews and Christians to exist much like the other countries of the world.

Zionists forced Israel back into existance, thinking the world’s jews would go, but that hasn’t happened. Most jews are in the United States and have not immigrated to Israel.

Palestinians were forced off their land by the threat of slaughter, which did occur by Jews in the early days of Israels formation.

This whole conflict has been a religious and land war and the price has been terrible in human suffering.

It’s also been a failed land war, as the Palestinians are multiplying much faster than the jewish population.

Arial Sharon finally realized that peace wasn’t going to be resolved until Israel solidified it’s borders and stop the land grabs.

    Thus the Gaza pullout.

Terrorism has been a effective weapon against Israeli control because it denies the aggressor the rewards of their conquest.

People are sickened by terroism, so am I, but it’s war and all forms of war are sickening.

Palestinians have the population advantage, and they are playing the only card they have. Kill one of theirs for as many Jews as they can.

Suicide boming is a effective tatic, deplorable but effective.

Much like the nuclear bombs the US dropped on Japan, killing hundreds of thousands instantly.

Dying over religion is stupid, but unfortunalty if your grown up brainwashed, so you will be.

We and only pray eventually people will see the stupidily of their actions and quit listening to the religious fanatics of the world.

  3. Maybe if the Palestinians didn’t worship a god that wanted them to kill all non-believers and MAYBE if they quit trying to kill Israeli’s they would find that the “violent oppression” would end.

Not saying Israel is blameless at all, but it’s quite obvious that no Arab state can defeat Israel, let alone the Palestinians, so why not try for some peace.

    Duh!?

  4. This’ll teach them Arabs to be tryin’ to grab our ports. Just wait’ll we sneak in a few extraordinary jack-boot guys to render a few dudes off the wafer assembly line and send ’em to gitmo.

More seriously .. when they take the Port of New Orleans, they better be bringin’ some of that way good music with them. No Rai? .. No port. That’s my motto.

  5. Maybe if the Palestinians didn’t worship a god that wanted them to kill all non-believers

That’s a misconception, not all Islamics beleive that even though it might be written in their Quran. The Bible and Torah also have such statements.

but it’s quite obvious that no Arab state can defeat Israel

Actually Pakistan can, they have nukes. But it’s mutually assured destruction. Although with all the radicals in the country I’m surpised a nuke didn’t get “lose”.

I don’t like radical Islam one bit, actually radical anything. Including Christian fundamentilists and Zionists.

Practice your religion fine, go radical and you need to die.

  6. Not to get political…There has never been a civilization or a nation referred to as “Palestine” and the very notion of a “Palestinian Arab nation” having ancient attachments to the Holy Land going back to time immemorial is one of the biggest hoaxes ever perpetrated upon the world! There is not, nor has there ever been, a distinct “Palestinian” culture or language. Further, there has never been a Palestinian state governed BY Arab Palestinians in history, nor was there ever a serious Arab-Palestinian national movement until 1964… three years BEFORE the Arabs of “Palestine” lost the West Bank [Judea and Samaria] and Gaza  as a result of the 1967 Six-Day War (which the Arabs started). Even Yasser Arafat was EGYPTIAN! In short, the so-called Arab “Palestinians” are a manufactured people…a people with no history and no authenticity… whose sole purpose for existence is to destroy the Jewish State!

  7. Lets give a try to peace. Palestinians are people too. I agree, in part, to some of you. Isreal took there land and are still buiding and developing homes on them. I think we should look at both sides of the story.

How would you like it if I went to you house, made a tent and said to you: “sorry this is my house now.” And you decided to get violent on me to get me out of your living room. There’s no room for violence but I’m living in your living room.

great move no Intels part. Great move.

    peace

  8.   In an interview with the Dutch newspaper “Trau” (March 31, 1977), PLO executive committee member Zahir Muhsein said, “The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese.

  9. The term “Palestine” came from the name that the conquering Roman Empire gave the ancient Land of Israel in an attempt to obliterate and de-legitimize the Jewish presence in the Holy Land. The Roman Procurator in charge of the Judean-Israel territories was so angry at the Jews for revolting that he called for his historians and asked them who were the worst enemies of the Jews in their past history. The scribes said, “the Philistines.”
The ancient Philistines are extinct. They do not have the unbroken line to this date that the Jews have.

  10. “The Truth” there was a piece of land called Palestine in the A.D. era, and still is. Those that lived there were palestinians. Palestinians have a culture and a language (arab, hebrew, and dialects).

Do Sicilians have a distinct culture? yes. Even though they are all italians, what makes them distinct is the diversity in Sicily. How could you say “a people” doesn’t have a culture. weird logic. Jews in general are as mixed as Arafat who was egytian but you say that he is not truely Palestinian.

How about german or russian or american or arab or french Jews? what do you say about those people? do you say that even they were French, the so-called French “Jews”are a manufactured people.

your logic is off and timeline is erroneous. Instead of instigating, why don’t we expand knowledge to the kids and people of a land that has an illiteracy level that is pathetic at best.

  11. MacDude, I love you. You make so much sense out of others total nonsense.

Both Arabs and Jews are semitic. Ethiopians are semetic too.

I hate it when people use anti-semitic to mean being anti-Jewish. Me? I’m anti-human. People suck. All of them.

  12. this is all rhetoric. we are all people and we should just live together. No one is better than anyone. “they donot have the unbroken line that jews have” what kind of BS is that. lets live in the present and live in peace. Lets share when we could and lend a hand to the person that’s down and out. Lets put historical arrogance down for bit and stop looking into thousands of years ago to find an excuse to fight or look better than the next guy.
If someone wanted to dig into distint history that we are digging into to make a claim than the africans could come out and say we are the ones cause every freakin human came out of Africa, Homo Erectus.

  13. Hey Dutch,

Don’t worry, I know your attempting to fit the puzzles in your mind based upon this new information. But that’s what religions do, they don’t educate or teach real truth, just the truth they want you to beleive.

You can still practice your religion, but don’t count on it as a absolute source of all information.

People also tend to bend the truth according to fit what they beleive, disregarding and retaining information to fit their “views” or the views of the group.

Even though the Quran forbids killing oneself, suicide bombers exist.

Even though the Bible and Torah say you shall not kill, soldiers go to church on sunday and kill on monday.

We all are suspectible to group influences, man is a herd animal, we tend to shape our personailites, behavoirs and beliefs to get the rewards of the group.

Socialology is quite a scary subject.

Here read this dictionary of strange beliefs

  14. After a little (and I mean a little) contemplation I have come to the conclusion that Israel’s days are numbered just like many other countries days are numbered. Does this make me anti-Israel by saying such? I’m neither pro nor con when it come to Israel and Palestine.

I don’t see how Israel can continue when the Jews are having less babies than the Palestinians. Plus, Israel is surrounded. The Arabs can loose 100 wars – but Israel can only loose one war. So Israel has nukes – big deal. Nukes in that area is like pissin’ in the wind.

I sure wish the folks over there could make peace with each other.

  15. I sure wish the folks over there could make peace with each other.

Like two boys who always fight, bring others into their conflict, the only resolution I see is for a large third party to seperate the two.

Over time they will forget each other exists and later fresh minds will make peace.

  16. “Maybe if the Palestinians didn’t worship a god that wanted them to kill all non-believers and MAYBE if they quit trying to kill Israeli’s they would find that the “violent oppression” would end…”

Okay Mr “Voice of Reason”, I take it you haven’t studied history for too many hours so I can’t blame you for such a statement. If you would like to judge a religion – try to count the people who’ve been murdered in its gods name. Now, do you really believe Islam comes even close to Christianity? Or for that sake – do you think ANY religion comes close to Christianity when it comes to bodybags, opression, torture and what not?

BTW, how come there are no radical buddhists?

  17. I wish america could make peace with folks over there, but there’s one big problem. Oil.

That’s just part of a bigger problem. Too many goddamn people in the world, gobbling up the oil as fast as it can be pumped. Why can’t we slow down?
