Report: Boston to get major four-story Apple Store on Boylston Street

“A couple of websites [LoopRumors, ifoAppleStore] have reported that a new Apple Store will be setting up shop on Boylston St. across from the Pru [Prudential Center, Boston, MA]. Copy Cop’s days are numbered at 815 Boylston St. as the building will be demolished to make room for a four story Apple Store. Rumors have it that the store will be all glass and one of the most state of the art to date, no surprise as things from apple keep getting bigger and better. Or is it smaller and better? Mayor Meninio should be coming out with a statement to make it all official later this week. Bostonist hopes that Meninio or Jobs will let us know soon when the store will open,” Jon Petitt reports for Bostonist.

  1. Ah, I remember the good ol’days at Berklee (College of Music). Boylston & Mass Ave – I wonder if that pizza parlor’s still there.

  2. Perhaps Apple should put a store up across the New Hampshire border, so that Bostonites will actually shop there.

I know absolutely nobody who lives in eastern Mass who actually SHOPS there for anything that costs more than 50 bucks.

  3. Mayor “Mumbles” Menino —

“We all, gathered here to welcome, err, open this Arple locration- umm, Apple. Location here, is here in the great city of Barston. Great place, great people, running this Apple plan. Welcome, welcome to darntown Barston and, and we’re gonna have, go to, everybody’s coming . . . Apple, it’s good, crality- quality stuff. And, . . . welcome.”

    Good luck, Apple.

  4. You must not get out much, Aplle stores in MA do a whale of abusiness. Or, there’s an Apple store in Salem, NH.
You can spend all your time driving to avoid sales tax, or just get on with your life.

  5. Yeah, there is a store just across the NH border, in Salem.

As for Berklee College of Music, that’s where the guy who is suing Apple over the iTunes gui went to school!

  6. This is great news! I thought they were going to lease the old FAO store and that way I could simply go downstairs to purchase Apple equipement for my company. Oh well. Still not that far away. =)

    Thanks Apple.
