nova media offers free Apple iSync plug-ins for latest mobile phones

nova media today introduced its free nova media phone plugins software featuring iSync support for latest mobile phones.

The list of new devices features more than 25 mobile phones from Motorola, Nokia, Siemens and Sony Ericsson, allowing smoothless synchronization of calendar and contact data with a Mac OS X computer.

“In some cases it was only necessary to identify phones for iSync, in other cases new field definition tables had to be created to allow iSync to communicate in the best possible way with new phones.” states Jan Fuellemann, PR spokesperson at nova media. “For example the Siemens SL75 needs such a list. Telling iSync the SL75 would be a phone from the S5x family would result in names shortened and fields not used.”

Nova media phone plugins for iSync do not touch the iSync application itself, placing new mobile phone definitions in the appropriate folder in the Mac OS X system instead. Thus the nova media phone plugins for iSync is a clean way of expanding the capabilites of Apple’s iSync software.

  1. Nokia 6230?

No, I thought not. And God forbid Apple ever listens to the hundreds of posts on it’s discussions boards and adds support either.

Can’t be a popular phone in the USA. Never mind that half of Europe uses it.

  2. Well, like it or not, Apple is a North American based company and the lion’s share of their hardware and software is sold in North America. I’m not saying they shouldn’t support European only phones, but that’s just the facts. Same goes for the lack of Sony support when it comes to many models outside of Japan, etc. Apple isn’t the only company that works that way.

Thanks for the response. I guess you can tell from the tone of my post that I don’t see this as nova’s problem. Between Apple’s substandard support for the Serie49 and Nokia’s Windows only attitude, there’s tens of thousands of Mac users fed up with having to vCard everything via Bluetooth.

Shame you guys couldn’t get around it, but I fully understand.

If it were only me complaining here on MDN I could understand, but those two models are obscenely popular, a lot more so than phones iSync does support.

If Apple are happy enough to take Pounds, Euros and Krona, then they should be happy enough to factor Europe into their development schedules, especially when their customers are repeatedly bringing the ommission to their attention.

  5. Does anyone know what portion of Apple’s sales are made in the the UK or Europe. I couldn’t find the figures. Either way its hardly a market worth ignoring. The fact that London has the flagship retail store in the world, the one Apple uses in all promotional work, should tell you that.

  6. Finaly!! I can Sync with my Razr V3c. Thank you!
After three times trying to sync I almost gave up. The solution was restarting isync after conection with the phone, but after that wow…how nice.

  7. When I purchased my Verizon Bluetooth phone a couple months ago, the salesperson told me that it was NOT compatible with Macintosh! I bought it anyway, took it home, and. . . It worked like a charm with Apple’s Address Book, iCal, and Apple’s built-in bluetooth software.

    Stupid Salesman!
