NewerTech miniStack named ‘‘Mac mini Accessory of the Year’ by 123Macmini.com

123Macmini has named Newer Technology Inc.’s miniStack its choice for Mac mini Accessory of the Year.

Engineered to increase drive capacity by 80-500 GB while adding multiple FireWire and USB port options, the NewerTech miniStack was heralded by 123Macmini.com for its superior quality, functionality and performance. The economical price of the NewerTech miniStack also was singled out for applause.

Retailing at http://www.macsales.com for under $140 for an 80GB stack and available in capacities up to 500GB at 7200 RPM, the NewerTech miniStack not only was the editor’s choice as Accessory of the Year it also was the overwhelming favorite Mac mini accessory upgrade as voted by 123Macmini.com forum visitors.

“At NewerTech our goal is to provide the absolute best solutions for today’s technology users at the very best prices possible. When we hear actual users use terms like ‘perfect’ and ‘can’t do without it’ about a product like the miniStack, that’s an amazing reward,” says Larry O’Connor, president of NewerTech in a statement.

In an accolade-filled year since its introduction in July through exclusive source distributor Other World Computing, the NewerTech miniStack has been a reviewer and user favorite having also been named MacAddict’s Editors’ Choice and a Macworld Top Product.

“NewerTech and distributor Other World Computing are committed to customer satisfaction. The miniStack is the result of listening to the needs of Apple and PC users,” says O’Connor.

Although specifically designed to work in conjunction with the Mac mini, the NewerTech miniStack set a new industry standard because it works with any Apple or PC computer with an available FireWire or USB port.

All NewerTech miniStack models feature high-performance 7200RPM hard disk mechanisms and data buffers of 2- or 8MB. The line utilizes the latest Oxford911+ chipset in a custom FireWire/USB2 bridge for unrivaled performance and reliability. The NewerTech miniStack provides significantly better hard drive performance versus the stock Mac mini hard drive while at the same time providing additional USB2 and FireWire ports via its integrated USB2 and FireWire Hubs.

Riding the wave of praise rising from the NewerTech miniStack, OWC and NewerTech will be on hand at the MacWorld Conference & Expo 2006 in San Francisco to debut their newest technology solutions – including impressive upgrades to the award-winning miniStack.

  1. I bought the external disk miniMate from MicroNet – nicer looking and the Firewire will work alongside the USB instead of setting a switch on the miniStack to have to choose which one to use – best of both worlds. The only drawback was I had to put in a better hard disk from Seagate (fluid bearing for quietness and a 5year warranty – much better for backup).

  2. In other news, Anna Nicole Smith has been named MaxiStack and awarded the accessory of the year to billionaire Max Minnie, the 102 year-old heir to the miniskirt patent.
