Podfather: iPod porn is going to be huge

“The adult-entertainment industry that kick-started the pre-recorded home-video market is likely to do the same with video podcasts,” Frank Barnako reports for MarketWatch. “Adam Curry, president of PodShow Inc., said this week’s announcement of the new video iPod from Apple Computer. ‘Porn is just going to be huge,’ he told listeners to his Daily Source Code podcast this week. ‘The porn guys are just going, ‘holy moly,” — in gratitude for the new market that’s opened up to them. But adult material is only one facet of new commercial opportunities, that Curry foresees.”

  1. downloaded itunes 6.0 and not only did it find all of my music vid, and vid podcast, but it also found some porn that i thought i erased. it was a bit shocking, cause i have no idea where that porn is on my drive.

  2. It’s only a matter of time before the PORN PARASITES start feeding on Apple. America is the porn, drugs, murder, smoking, alcoholic capital of the world. How proud it is to be an American. If you buy the porn, you are the same smelly scum they are. Keep that “sh#t” off the iPod.

  3. iCrystal – America (although I assume you mean the US) is also the land of free speech (sometimes)…

Actually, it’s interesting: I was reading recently how the porn industry has been massively responsible for the mainstream adoption of various technologies – video, DVD, the web, etc. Like it or not, porn is massive and can impact society in both negative and positive ways.

  4. Yay. I’m a smelly scum… You know, there’s actually couples who spice things up a little with porn every now and then… it’s not just for deranged perverts. We’re adults, we can watch whatever we want.

    Kids seeing it… that’s another matter….

I’m more offended by your use of the word “sh#t”… how filthy.

    OMG how funny is that?

You obviously have never been to another country. If you have such an issue with it, perhaps we can pitch in for a one way ticket somewhere.
When you get there however, you’ll find out it’s the same in a lot of other countries, except of course the ones where they chop off your hand or put out your eyes if you do any of those things.

  6. iCrystal – you sound like you need to get laid. May I suggest a little porn to tide you over?

On another note, the same theory was touted when the PSP came out. Playboy started realeasing pics almost immediatley that wer sized for the PSP screen. And, actually, I have ported over quite a few WMV’s to the PSP. The problem with the PSP is the limited storage capability. Not so with the 60 gig iPod.

You can bet you bottm dollar that this market (porn) will be fully exploited for the iPod.

  7. This is great. Not because I want porn on my iPod. In fact, it will be awhile before I get a video capable iPod because my 20GB iPod still works great and I just bought a Nano last month.

So why is this great? Because this format will become the new “standard” format for porn videos. Right now, a lot of porn is Windows Media format which sucks on the Mac because MS never updates Windows Media player for the Mac.

And eventually (hopefully quickly) other Non-Porn videos will follow leading to the demise (hopefully) of Windows Media format.

    Go iPod. Go Porn

  8. Mike:

Both are wrong, of course, but the main distinction is that the sex is real, and the killing is fictional. We live in a time where people think sin is cool. It’s part of the human defect, and freedom, as we call it, propogates sin exponentially. The people who have a problem with my condemnation of porn are mainly the filthy porn watchers. Unfortunately it will take judgement day for those who fantasize, masturbate, fornicate and sodomize in the privacy of their own homes and elsewhere to realize the grave consequences of their immorality. This country glorifies sin, and you know it! Bless the USA!!!!

  9. iCrystal,

Wow, you lost me if you consider two humans performing a natural act to be wrong.

And sex on television is NOT real, it is called acting.. Porn is not real either, it is for fantasy and entertainment value only.

  10. Porn for the win! This would be great for the porn industry too, most sites rely on subscription models for their money, but maybe this will open up more places for just simple cheap purchases of content. And the video podcasts would be a great way to intice people into buying things, think “iPorn New & Sexy Tuesday, Connecting You with the hottest, newest additions to the iPorn video store.”

Anyways, I think anybody who thinks porn is just the most gross and horrible thing in the world needs to get it right and realize that it wouldn’t be such a huge business if the masses hated it. It’s just natural human activity anyways, and millions of americans every day do it and see it, are they all insane?

  11. iCrystal,
I was going to write this big long rant about your views… but you know what, you are entitled to say what you want, believe what you want, and do what you want as long as it hurts no one else. And guess what…. so do those “sinners” that are in porn and watch porn.

So, go back to your over-zealous right winged chat room and talk about all of us immoral sinners watching porn and masturbating… and leave us alone please. Thank you.

    The Dude abides.

MW; Effect … as in… what I just said will have absolutely no effect on this fanatical person.
