Cypress Semi seen boosted by Apple Pod nano growth

“Piper Jaffray reiterated an ‘outperform’ rating and $18 price target on Cypress Semiconductor,” Maya Roney reports for Forbes. “‘The major growth drivers–PSoC [programmable system-on-chip] (driven by iPod nano), USB and Clocks (driven by continued strong consumer/PC demand), and Image Sensors (driven by strong handset demand)–remain intact,’ said Piper Jaffray.”

Roney reports, “The firm believes that Cypress’ PSoC device will continue to demonstrate solid growth during the rest of 2005 and into 2006. “We believe that growth will not only be driven by iPod nano, but also a host of new design wins across a wide range of applications,” said the firm, estimating 2005 PSoC sales at $52 million.”
