MacDailyNews Note: Apple no longer breaks out models into categories such as iMac, Power Mac, etc. and instead reports only on desktop and portable totals. Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer stated during the Conference Call that “Mac unit growth significantly exceeded overall PC market as a whole over last three quarters.”

A Big FU to all the iPod sales slow losing steam naysayers.
Excellent sales…. Apple stock is sure to drop 3-4% as usual.
HALO EFFECT IN MOTION.
WAIT TILL THE RELEASE OF INTEL MACS TO BREAK RECORDS.
MW= FEAR
someone in redmond fears the little apple!
Let’s read some more insightful commentary from wizened analysts about how the halo effect doesn’t exist.
Great quarter! The only slight negative is Apple is giving a slightly lowered guidance for this quarter. But that’s smart considering the immediate impact on Mac sales from the Intel switch announcement won’t be known, no matter how smart one might be.
But 6.15 million iPods last quarter kinda destroys the argument that iPod sales are somehow slowing because Creative or Synaptics are not doing so well. Shows you how much certain armchair analysts know.
You can really see the importance of revamping the laptop line. Growth is nowhere near desktop sales. Good riddance, PPC.
How do these numbers fit in with the rest of PC sales (ie: market share)? Anyone know where I could find that out?
Like I said this morning, what the analysts were saying didn’t jibe with my real-world experiences with people. Nice to be right once in a while…
What you see the value in is listing Mac minis with G5 desktops and Shuffles with disc based iPods. No one can see the drop in G5 desktop sales or the drop in disc based iPods. All looks rosy even though there are lower sales in some areas.
Yep, those iPod sales sure are slowing. Only 616% growth from the same quarter of last year
The entire Mac community can collectively FLIP OFF the stupid analysts who are being paid by Microsoft to talk trash about Apple. FU, ANALYSTS!
1.18 million Macs sold.
Approximately 14 million total PCs sold (extrapolated figure 51.4 million PCs sold last year, take 1/4 and multiply by 10% growth).
Macs = 8.5% market share.

Gah… am i missing something here.. who else likes Tommy’s numbers ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
yeah, a lot of people are putting off buying a mac cuz of the switch to intel, just like the analysts promised.
</sarcasm>
It’s more interesting to me about the surge in desktops but not in laptops. Over the past year we’ve seen a lot of desktop upgrades (Mac mini, the iMac, etc.). But we’ve seen little in terms of PB.
I guess what Apple really needs right now is a refresh to their PB line. I hope they do that first with the new Pentiums.
Hint in this case desktop = MacMini
I somehow doubt that sales of towers, eMacs, & iMac grew appreciably more than laptop sales
