Motorola to unveil Apple iTunes mobile phone during UK’s V Festival

“Motorola is to unveil the first fruits of its partnership with Apple next month with the launch of its iTunes mobile phone at the V Festival of music. The festival is one of the UK’s biggest summer music events,” Andrew Murray-Watson reports for The Telegraph. Full article here.

“V Festival [is] a music event which takes place on 20-21 August at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffs. The festival is sponsored by Virgin Mobile, so the carrier may be the first to agree to offer the product in the UK. As the smaller of the five biggest UK carriers, Virgin is probably less troubled by the iTunes phone’s lack of support for over-the-air music downloads than the other networks are said to be,” Tony Smith reports for The Register. “Interestingly, there has been much speculation of late that Apple will become a virtual mobile operator, buying block airtime from an existing carrier and selling it on under its own brand. In the UK, this is already how Virgin Mobile operates, piggybacking on T-Mobile’s infrastructure.”

  1. This phone had better be good, it’s reminding me of Longhorn the amount of delays/announcements/promises that have been made about it.

If it’s any good, my contract is up in October so I’ll get one then. If it hasn’t been delayed.

  2. my contracts up in 2 weeks!!!

    i can’t be arsed waiting anymore : (

i have an ipod so it’s not that important really, and is it just me but motorola have a shit os! not as obvoius to use as nokia or sony

  3. Rob Nash, In terms of motorola’s os in comparison to nokia et al, it’s kinda like comparing shit with shit. Mobile phones are generally crappy pieces of technology in my opinion.
