  1. It’s a sign of how Apple is trying to entice ppl into buying Macs in this period before the transistion begins. They know that sales are getting low now and it’s a desperate measure.

  2. crap crap crap

Just had daughter’s iMac delivered last week.

Oh wait. Offer only good in United States. I am in
    Canada.

Great. Bent over a chair! and no reacharound either!!

Good to know.. so anytime a company, especially one as profitable as Apple, tries to promote, cut prices, and generally make things more affordable, it’s because they’re desperate. Seems reasonable.

Unfortunately most people will not be affected by the Intel switch. Why?

Because software won’t be written/released expressly for the IntelMacs until they achieve critical mass.. Until then, CD’s DVD’s will just come with both versions on there.

What happened to this obsolescence of ‘old’ Macs? You tell me.. eventually devs are going to see.. okay most people are on Intel now..

When’s that going to happen? Around 2009??

  4. I don’t see any desparation with this move. Apple did the same thing last year for the ‘back to school’ season in a promo called Cram & Jam. I think it was something like a $199 rebate on an ipod when purchased in conjunction with a Mac computer. Just another deal to get in on the ‘Back to School’ shopping fevor…

No, it’s a sign of how in the next future Apple will offer only one iPod mini: 6GB at a minor price

  6. This seems like a first phase in a well thought out promotional campaign that will advance stepwise through the Intel transition. I think Apple may be able to continue to gain market share throughout the transition period as long as they keep the enticements flowing.

  7. And their politicans actually concern themselves with legalizing pot and whoring.
Here’s an idea: make more Gouda!

But really, I think that Holland, and the EU for that matter, should lower tariffs so that PCs, and Macs, which are mostly produced in non-EU countries, could be cheaper for EU members, oh, and change marketing regulations so that Apple could even do something like this in your country.

  8. State of the nation:

    Pot: illegal, but tolerated
Whoring: job like any other, including unions, taxes and pensions
Gouda: like Apple products. Copied everywhere and most people eat their local version without knowing the real thing

If the EU lowers tariffs, then every person in the industry here will lose their job due to impossible to compete against slave wages in Asia. The EU is not about sponsoring a USA based company with manufacturing in Asia, I’m afraid. (Of course, exceptions are the rule where Euro companies are concerned. Fuck knows how much EU money went into Siemens’ new setup in China. The same Siemens that now moves to China completely, dumping all their employees in Germany. Thank you, EU, well done.)

  9. Ordered my powerbook 15inch 10 days ago and they wont give me anything. pisses me off considering my this is my 2nd $3k laptop in 3 years and they cant give me a free mini for the difference of 10 days. Jerks!
