Free ‘Google Maps Plugin’ integrates Google Maps in Apple Mac OS X’s Address Book

The Google Maps Plugin enables you lookup your Apple Address Book addresses using Google Maps. Google Maps supports addresses in the United States, the UK, and Canada. The Google Maps Plugin is a free beta, but Google Maps Plugin developer Brian Toth accepts donations through PayPal on the site.

The Google Maps Plugin requires Apple Address Book and Mac OS X 10.3 or higher.

  1. Great idea but it’s not working too well. It wouldn’t work at all for my address. It worked for a few friends addresses but only if I didn’t include the Zip Code.

  2. It worked perfect for me. If you control click you can still get MapQuest results (not sure why you’d want to though).
I’ve already hacked the standard YellowPages widget to return Google Maps results.

  3. Google maps is pretty, but of little use. If I put in my address, it can’t distinguish East and West, so it shows me somewhere 12 miles away on the other side of town.

  4. Also doesn’t work if the person’s name has an ampersand in it (like Johnson, Bob & Sue). It appends part of the name to the address and then just shows a map of the entire US.

But I’d say that with some bug fixing it will be a really nice addition to Address Book. I like it.
