Video of Mac OS X 10.4.1 for Intel running on Dell laptop posted online

Video of Mac OS X 10.4.1 for Intel has been posted running on a run-of-the-mill Dell laptop.

The “About This Mac” box isn’t very clearly shown – do you have a zoom on that camera, guys?

MacDailyNews Take: What do you think? Real or fake? We have our doubts, since the most obvious thing in the world would be to show the “About This Mac” box clearly.

  1. Of course its real, but look at how slow it is. Did you notice how choppy it was when he was scrolling in safari. It reminded of the days when i used a performa 6360

  2. the video would not play on my office dell, because I don’t have quicktime 7. how was it created in quicktime 7 if it were running on a dell box?

  3. The redraw and responsiveness look an awful lot like they’ve VNC’d into a Mac… Without seeing the About this Mac box clearly, I’m thinking it’s fake.

There are two reasons for this horrible video performace:

1 – The Dell doesn’t have a graphics card with enough oomph.

    or

2 – This is a hoax and the Dell is actually running Pear PC.

I’m voting for #2 – I have a 500 MHz G3 iBook that has better Quartz performance than that crappy Dell.

  5. Quicktime does run on OS X.

Quicktime does not run on Windows.

People need to get over the fact it is an Intel Processor underneath it.

Remember Jobs said that he mandated that ALL Apple Software work on both IBM and Intel?

Quicktime is not dependent on Direct X or other MS product. Quicktime is an Apple product. And it does work on an Intel box. He demonstrated it at WWDC.
