One week after their debut of the new iPod “Rollerskating” television ad which featured the music “Feel Good Inc.” by Gorillaz, Apple has debuted another new thirty-second television commercial, which aired during Saturday Night Live across the U.S. less than twelve hours ago. The new iPod commercial is titled, “Pop-Lock,” and features the music “Technologic” by Daft Punk. Pop locking is a kind of breakdancing. It is when you “pop” out your muscles (i.e. tense them up really quickly) and your lock out your joints.
The ad can be viewed via QuickTime and is available in three sizes: Small (3.2MB), Medium (7.1MB), or Large (8MB).
Watch the new ad here.
First poop.
Now how about some Tiger ads?
hmm.. it doesn’t say ‘mac + windows’ anymore..
which means apple feels confident that everyone already KNOWS THAT..
which is amazing.. mindshare way up.. good stuff
i’m wondering when these ads are gonna feel “sooo 2003” but so far not bad.. you can always put brand new music on there, and the dancing is actually incredibly fun to watch.. evenutally they’ll put those ads out to pasture i guess..
By the way, the new Gorillaz song and video are incredible. Be sure to visit the QuickTime site and watch it! Very, very cool.
Here’s a thought: why not advertise the fact that you make the world’s best personal computers, too?
I hate to say it, but I think the silhouettes are starting to get old.
MDN magic word: Love
Had to post just to spread the word.
That, and I love the iPod commercials
A Stockholder,
There is a 2 page advertisement in the May 23rd BusinessWeek Magazine (the downloaded version from Zinio) showing Spotlight and Dashboard. Looks like Apple has started to advertise the OS in print.
More evidence today of Billy Gates running scared. BIG full page interview in todays Sunday Times (UK). Dismissing Apple he says MS are the biggest thing in mobile phones now.
Jerk.
Would you buy an ipod based on that ad?
What a load of bollocks!
Last night when I told my son thatI had just received my new iMac with Tiger. He said, “What’s Tiger?”
iPod ads were nice for the fist few months but they are now starting to get boring and predictable … could do with a refresh, they are starting to become background noise for me.
RON: your son is out of touch with technology. I thought kids were on top of it these days?
Your mission…..bring him up to speed! CHOP CHOP! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
giofoto, you go ask 20 people what Tiger is and they’ll give you a blank stare. Apple is hiding the best OS on the planet.
TAKE YOUR FINGER OUT APPLE!!!!!
giofoto. Apple is out of touch with the general public.
Hey LordRobin,
Regarding:
“I hate to say it, but I think the silhouettes are starting to get old.”
That ad form is already an Apple legacy. Watch it being copied by others for years. Also, Clean, uncluttered and white.
“hmm.. it doesn’t say ‘mac + windows’ anymore..”
No, it just shows the apple logo at the end, classy.
In my opinion OSX advertising, I think Apple is waiting for any major bugs to be fixed in 10.4.1 such as that obscure but annoying windows networking one. One week after they do start advertising, we will forget about how Apple waiting a few weeks to advertise.
Anyone remember how Apple was VERY late getting into the mp3 market?
Macaday:
I know this isn’t you – rather Gates’ massive delusion – but if MSFT is the largest thing in mobile technology, where is the enormous range of phones running MS Mobile at Carphone Warehouse or The Link.
Most mobile users don’t give a rat’s ass for smartphone features in any way, and certainly not for MS’s Mobile OS. They want a phone, with a reasonable phonebook, a semi-decent camera (I never see the point myself, but that’s hardly the point) and good battery life.

You sound like an abused housewife making excuses for her husband for beating her up., always clinging to that hope that any day now, her husband will change.

Apple Computer posts new iPod ‘Pop-Lock’ TV commerical online
What’s a commerical?
I’ll report that the Rollerskating ad seems to have finally made it’s first appearances today on local CTV station Channel 12 here in Montreal, Quebec. Sure feels good to be seeing it on the tube. I love it.
Now if only we had someplace to actually purchase a Mac here. heh. (just kidding … they are here, but we have to dig a bit in order to find them)
Whither Tiger?
G5 Mac mini commercial
It’s time to take back the streets!
