i need to know that, too. will DVD SP let you write dual layer discs with this drive…hmmm…
Can’t you just author the VIDEO_TS folder to the hard drive and then copy it to the DL DVD using Toast 6? I don’t see why DVD Studio Pro would need to be able to write directly to the disc, other than that it would save some time.
slightly off topic, but has anyone out there used the new LaCie d2 DVD burner with LightScribe? I’m curious how compatible it is with iDVD5 (or DVD SP, for that matter)… This Mercury Pro drive is the first dual-layer external burner I’ve seen that actually claims compatability with either program!
The geniuses at my Apple store say that all of these DVD external burners are NOT recognized by the Apple applications (unlike external hard drives). You must save your projects as some sort of disk file and then use the drive’s own software to burn the disks.
I would double check with an Apple rep on your specific drive.
