Amazon is offering a US$35 rebate on Apple’s upcoming Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger which Amazon lists at $129.99. Amazon’s price after the special $35 rebate offer is $94.99.
Amazon advises that customers print the rebate forms now. When your order arrives, fill out the rebate forms and mail to the address on the form and be prepared to wait 6-8 weeks for your rebate to arrive by mail.
More info here.

First Posts rule
Amazonnn, yeh-heh-hesss. I love Amazon. My CD & DVD are doing quite well there. You know, “Come Poop With Me”. Give it a try — it’s good stuff. Come onnn, you know you want to. Just go order a copy, alright, so I don’t have to POOP on you!
“First Posts rule.” Riiight. Nooo, no Jimmy. Trust me, they don’t.
Now get back to class before I poop on YOU!
They’re also offering a $50 rebate on the Family Pack.
I’ve tried everything, but I can’t find the family pack on there. Anyone have any luck finding the FAMILY (5 user $199) version?
bdb, Where do you see the family pack license rebate for Tiger?
Does anyone know for sure if this is a full version of the OS or an upgrade? I don’t currently own Panther…
Full version. Apple don’t do upgrades (for the OS)
Family pack:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007LW1MW/qid=1111601227/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/002-9323704-9496866
Family Pak is listed on the Rebate as an option, but is nowhere on Amazon’s site.
I stand corrected.
I get ANOTHER pop-under with this webpage, in addition to the one from the home page!!
Thanks, MDN, for taking such pride in undermining Apple’s filtering!!
The rebate offer is good until May 31, 2005. Which confirms that Tiger will be released sometime in May at the latest.
There is a “gotcha” in that you have to get a new Visa credit card from Amazon in order to benefit from the $35 pricing (rebate). Be aware!
buggytop, that is just an ad telling you you will save an additional $30 if you sign up for an Amazon Visa card. You DO NOT have to get a Visa card from Amazon to qualify for the rebate.
As with Panther, Apple’s Education store price for Tiger will probably be $69.
Just ordered Tiger from Amazon and this is what I got.
Shipping estimate for these items: May 27, 2005 – May 27, 2005
Delivery estimate: June 1, 2005 – June 3, 2005
I don’t know if I can wait an extra 2 days for shipping….. : )
6-8 weeks to wait for the rebate? Tiger’s gonna be released in April.. WTF?
Just an fyi (2 p.m., PST): Amazon (again) has pulled it’s offer to pre-sell Tiger. If you didn’t already get it, you’re back to waiting …
Interestingly, the page for OS X Tiger on Amazon says that it is #1 in sales for the Electronics category. Not bad for a product you can’t buy!
Not a “gotcha” as commented by buggytop. Rebate form says nothing about purchasing with amazon credit card.
BUY AWAY!
I’ve tried to tell Amazon about the Family Pack issue, and they have not been helpful: http://homepage.mac.com/wysz/iblog/C1020803948/E1642635799/index.html
