Other World Computing (OWC) and Newer Technology, Inc. today announced availability of NuPower high-capacity replacement batteries for all Apple iBook G3 & G4 14-inch and 14.1-inch notebook models.
The new 59 Watt Hour battery model is available for $119.99, and provides up to 12 percent more capacity than the original Apple stock battery. At $139.99, the 71 Watt Hour model provides up to 29 percent more capacity.

I’ll file this one away in my head for the undetermined future date when my iBook’s battery starts showing its age.
In the meantime, sensible battery management is important. I’ve found that minimizing the number of times a laptop battery is plugged in will increase its life (seems every time you plug in your laptop, regardless of the amount of charge left on the battery, it takes another cycle off the battery’s life). And this MDN opinion piece has some good ideas for keeping your laptop in top shape, too…
