Microsoft’s Ballmer warns Asia of lawsuits, says MS software ‘far more secure than open-source’

“Microsoft Corp. Chief Operating Officer Steve Ballmer on Thursday warned Asian governments that they could face intellectual rights-infringement lawsuits for using rival open-source operating platforms such as Linux. Linux is open-code software that is freely available on the Internet and easily modified by users. Its growing popularity with companies and governments around the world, and particularly in Asia, is a threat to the global dominance of Microsoft’s proprietary Windows platform,” Reuters reports.

“Ballmer said the security fears some governments had about using Microsoft software were overblown. ‘We think our software is far more secure than open-source software. It is more secure because we stand behind it, we fixed it, because we built it. Nobody ever knows who built open-source software,’ he added,” Reuters reports.

  1. They are attempting to FIX something that should have never been broken to begin with…it should have been tested and done right from the beginning…everything comes back around full circle, very similar to the baldy circle on Ballmer’s head.

  2. The end for Microsoft as we know it will likely occur much sooner than anyone is anticipating. To say the least, watching Apple return to greatness has been nothing short of remarkable.

  3. Well,

I guess we’ve found my replacement when I go to the State Department. I don’t anyone who can lie more blatantly with a straight fact than Mr. Ballmer. And since he’s a billionaire – all ill-gotten gains, he’ll fit right into the Bush Administration.

How about it Bill? Wanna have access to some WMD’s besides your mouth?

  4. What a prick!

So MSFT is now reduced to using “the Boogey Man is coming to get to you” defence against Linux.

    Also:

‘We think our software is far more secure than open-source software.” – this is equivalent to when my mother used to tell me I wasn’t that bad-looking, what would you expect him to say?

“It is more secure because we stand behind it” – an interesting and fundamentally flawed logical argument given the number of times their flagship platform has been breached.

“we fixed it” – wow, that’s a relief that it’s been fixed. Presumably, I won’t need any more pesky Critical Updates then.

“because we built it” – Sorry, had to stop for hysterical laughter for this bit. Is Dancing Monkey Boy actually saying that Microsoft software is more secure because Microsoft built it? Didn’t two of the Three Little Pigs say pretty much the same thing?

“Nobody ever knows who built open-source software” – Anymore than we “know’ who wrote for MSFT.

  5. Wow, the honesty of the democratic party is overwelming! Lets redefine the word “if” and “at” and “sleep” so that what I did or said wasnt wrong.

Im gonna go drinking with the Kennedy gang and drown some girls too

  6. I can just see Micro$oft lawyers walking into a Chinese or Korean courtroom attempting to sue their governments. In China they execute criminals with a single shot to the back of the head.

  7. More “F” than “UD”… and the fear is all in Ballmer’s shiny head.

“The more you tighten your grip, (Ballmer), the more star systems will slip through your fingers” – Princess Leia

  8. Does Mr. Ballmer know who “built” Windoze? I’m no programer, but I’ve read that there is a pile of code stuck in it that “nobody” knows what it does, and they are afraid to touch it because it might break something if they do.

Mr. Ballmer, is that a tidal wave on the horizon?

  9. I just read an article that talked about how Bill Gates has a whole department dedicated to making sure that, of the over 4 million e-mails he receives each day, most of which is spam, only legitimate messages actually get to Bill. Ballmer said that they have special technology written just to filter e-mail for Gates.

Now we know why Windows is such garbage! He has his best people working on his personal spam filters!
