“Apple plans to open 40 new retail stores in 2005, sources say, including its first locations in Canada, while retail store employees will sport a collared shirt in place of their T-shirts at the turn of the year,” Ryan Katz reports for ThinkSecret.
More on collared shirts here.
MacDailyNews Take: For the record, a nice golf shirt with a collar looks a lot more professional than a T-shirt. We assume the 40 new stores figure to include a mix of full-sized and “mini” Apple Retail Stores.
The same rumor also mentions something that I agree with: Apple internally expects to sell 4 million iPods. I have an expectation of 3.5 million, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple met their expectations.
That should have read: ‘of at least 3.5 million…’
The question is.. how important is Digital Media to Gates and Ballmer… (Gates is one of the major shareholders in Corbis, the Digital Image Holding company)
Apple is really screwing with Windows Media, no matter how you slice it..
I mean.. if no one buys PMC because it won’t play AAC fairplay.. then WM won’t gain any appreciable adoption (come on.. like it’s an attractive proposition .. that thing is huge)..
By this time next year Apple will have filled in the geographic holes in it’s US Apple Store footprint, added at least 5 stores in Canada ( Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, Halifax) and a number in Europe (Paris, Berlin & Madrid + announced UK stores). Can Mexico City be far behind?
So…where are the online pictures of the stores which opened this past weekend ?
I want an apple collared shirt, I hope they open a store in New Orleans. I need a fun job.
Golf shirt! What is wrong with a black mock turtle neck and faded blue jeans?
You mean to say that the world’s biggest mall in Edmonton won’t get one? That’s rich.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
The news stories are going to suck when apple has to close one of their locations due to lack of profit. Gateway Country here we come!!
I visited the Carousel Mall Apple mini store on its opening day in Syracuse, NY this past weekend. It was later in the day and it was still quite busy- lot’s of traffic. The mini store is actually bigger than I imagined it to be, and it carries a surprisingly wide variety of software and hardware for its size. Looks like I’ll be visiting it often!
I’m looking forward to the Berlin store.
They’ll probably choose Potsdamer Platz for it – and despite my 56 years I’ll be camping out for the opening.
I’m really looking forward to a Berlin store.
They’ll probably choose Potsdamer Platz for it, and despite my 56 years, I’ll be camping out over night for the opening.
How did that happen!?
Charko…
it happened because you evidently hit the submit button twice before the page loaded…
I would encourage you to attend the opening, should it happen… if you are lucky enough to be among the first 30 or 40 (or so) in line when they open the doors… youre in for a real treat !!
again… I ask …. if anyone knows of pictures from the openings of the Apple Stores this past weekend… please post the link here…
Thanx in advance !!
Tiger in 2005, Quicktime and mpeg4, iPod, HP iPod, iTMS, G5iMac, new stores, etc.
Not too bad for a company formerly predicted to be on the verge of business collapse.
Now, where’s Longhorn, Billy? I would appreciate Microsoft finally releasing Longhorn so the world can see how far behind in software development Microsoft has lapsed and how little Microsoft has promised has actually been acheived.
Charko:
Did you know that Adolf Hitler and members of the Nazi party were advid evolutionists?
How do you feel about racism and eugenics movements promoted by 20th century evolutionists like Adolf?
How could such deplorable ideas like Adolf’s be supported by evolution?
Do you suppose that evolutionary thoughts regarding human speciation contributed to Nazism and the holocaust?
Do you see any similarities between Communism, Nazism, and evolutionary ideas?
Oh no! Religious wingnuts have found MDN.
This is not the forum for your proselytizing.
Go away.
Oh no! Religious wingnuts have found MDN.
Former, this is not the forum for your proselytizing.
Go away.
That had to be said twice anyway.
Al:
It’s not how many times you say it that makes a cogent point, it’s what you say that makes a real difference.
That’s a lot of collars! I hope they can keep up with demand.
(I thought this Former guy had skulked off and crawled under a Bush)
communism has less in common with nazism than capitalism
“It’s not how many times you say it that makes a cogent point, it’s what you say that makes a real difference.”
Unfortunately, in your case, what you say doesn’t make a cogent point, either.
Did you know that Hitler makes clear in Mein Kampf that he believes white Aryans are “the highest image of the Lord” and that removing Jews and other “subhumnans” was a mandate from God?
Did you know that biological evolution is never mentioned in Mein Kampf?
Did you know that evolutionists do not even believe races exist as distinct genetic populations? (In other words, two “black” people who work together share no more genetic information than a white person and an Asian.)
Did you know that if one evolutionist is a nutcase, it does not follow that all evolutionists are?
Dennis:
Please examine the following links for information about racism, slavery, Darwinism (aka evolution or neo-Darwinism), eugenics, communism, and the Nazi holocaust:

In other words, wherever evolution is promoted or enforced the risks of human rights abuses and violations, and legal diminution of human rights is historically and chillingly unmistakable.
