Apple Computer has released Mac OS X 10.3.6 Update which delivers enhanced functionality and improved reliability for Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther” and is recommended for all users.
Key enhancements include:
– improved file sharing for Mac (AFP), UNIX (NFS) and PC (SMB/CIFS) networks
– more reliable network automounts and launch of network applications
– improved OpenGL technology and updated ATI and NVIDIA graphic drivers
– additional FireWire audio and USB device compatibility
– updated Calculator, DVD Player, Image Capture, and Safari applications
– improved compatibility for third party applications
– previous standalone security updates

The Mac OS X 10.3.6 Update is available via Software Update.
Apple has also released Mac OS X v10.3.6 Server which includes everything found in the Mac OS X update and adds improvements to Open Directory, File Services, Fibre Channel Utility, Mail Server and LDAP. You can download the installer from Apple’s Knowledge Base or use Mac OS X Server’s Software Admin utility or the “softwareupdate” command-line tool.

MDN takes off for the week end, sometimes they are here. But most weekends they are gone.

Not all our updates are benevolent to other sotware companies. few and fewer of my small programer’s products and hacks cease to work with each upgrade.
I wish they’d give more details on these updates. What did they do to DVD Player? Can’t find a mention anywhere.

I’m having the same problem. I tried to update DOS 6.22 and it gives me the error:
“Your computer is shit. Please buy a real OS.”
What does this mean? I thought MS-DOS was the industry standard?

I was really hoping this update would of fixed the page load problem with Safari.
I am still having Safari tell me that a site cannot be found on the first try, and then always succeeds on the second.

There is an article on MacFixit relating to this. Sets up a local DNS Cache. Solved the problem for me!
