  1. it’s a general reaction to the election results. inverstors like it when the encumbent presidential candidate wins. they fear that a new president will disrupt the continuity of the slow rebound we’re seeing. this is how wallstreet normally reacts to the election. if the encumbent president wins, market goes up, if the challenger wins, the market goes down. dow jones closed up today so as nasdaq. everybody is up, including me. <and that’s a good thing>

  2. I, and many other Mac users, am a Bush supporter, and am happy that he won.

That said, this rally is about certainty and happiness that there are few lawsuits, not about any love for his policies.

  3. eric, not every stock is up $2 I take it…

John.. The republicans won in the Bible Belt.. and pretty much every state populated by uneducated Christian farmers… what state do you live in, out of curiosity?

Oh yeah.. and they took Florida. Give them credit for winning in an agnostic state also…

  4. Actually, half of America is conservative, or in this case, a little more than half of those who voted unless those Diebold machines were doing funny things. America may well be in decline now, not unlike France or England in the 20th century. The rest of the world will increasingly ignore America in any kind of leadership role as the debts rise and China and the EU continue to rise economically. Bush seems interested in protecting big business but not the rest of us, not by a long shot. Eyes Wide Shut is an apt title for a moment like this.

  5. Chazle.. well.. actually Kerry wasn’t really that liberal.. when asked about the Abortion issue, the first words out of his mouth were “As a Christian.. I respect all people.. ” yada yada.. and went on to say that he respected women’s bodies etc ..

My point being.. as far as differentiating himself from the Repubs.. he came off not looking like Clinton, but Diet Bush..

Right Wing, just a little uncertain..

Why? Well, because the American paranoia about the left… You can’t talk about the left without being branded a hippy/tree hugger/atheist/heathen…

So congrats America.. no black/white here..

it’s between Black and dark grey…

And why would you want to pick dark grey..

“Christian = uneducated” comment by Tommy Boy..

huh? The hardcore christian Republican vote on the farm vs the Dem votes in LA, CHICAGO and NY would suggest that the more educated/urban are voting for the Democratic Government…

After all.. they’re the ones that’ll be hit by Bin Laden’s goons, not middle of nowhere fuckin Wisconsin or West Virginia..

  6. Not every stock is up $2. Apple stock has been surging all week and the today’s election result just added to that frenzy…

so its not that the market is up because of the election.. class dismissed

it was a no-win situation.. bush kills the US econ.. or kerry’s presidency causes turmoil (just because of change)

of well.. I can get Tiger for $99 CDN .. sweet.

educated is not synonymous with urban in the slightest. Urban areas have high populations and high diversity, so while there are a lot of very brilliant people there, there are also tons… and tons… and tons… of idiots that make texas twits look like rhodes scholars.

say what you want, political positions have less than nothing to do with intellect. they’re much more philosophical than intellectual.

even if it were true that more stupid people were conservatives than liberals, that wouldn’t discredit conservatism.

  8. Kerry was a jackass, let’s face it.

Nobody has won against a war president.

BUSH is kicking scuzzy crazed fanatical ass and I hope the genocide continues.

These radical ragheads need to be exterminated, purged, like the disease they are. Then the new government will have a chance to take hold and remain in power and bring those Arab people out of their misery living.

Sitting on enough oil so they can do it.

Just they have some bad genes, radical males that need to be pacified.

    GO BUSH, KILL SOME MORE!!!

I predict they will get Bin Laden at the end of the next four years.

They already know where he is at.

The problem with a this terrorism snake is of you cut the head off first, it grows three more!

They have been watching Bin Laden and tracking his influence and taking steps to realize the whole picture and applying everywhere so those bastards have nowhere to hide.

BUSH IS DOING A GOOD JOB,

Taking the war to the enemy is the US #1 greatest ability. No more terrorism in the US or much anywhere else lately?

    THAT’S OUR BUSH!!

    Killed over 100,000 fanatical ragheads.

    THAT’S OUR BUSH!!!

We don’t need some flip flopping impotentant weak intellectual Kerry to reason with backstabbing fanatical ragheads.

We need cold hard mindless killing machines!!

    BUSH!!! GENOCIDE

KILL THEM ALL AND LET GOD SORT THEM OUT!!

God I need to re-enlist so I can kill me some too.

  9. I am happy that Bush got his 4 more years.
He will ruin US economy and that will teach a valuable lesson for Americans.
It will also sharpen the European Union + rest of the world.

  10. didn’t all the states that are at the highest risk for terrorism, vote democrat?

It seems, the states less directly affected by terrorism are the ones that voted to keep stirring up the pot… after all terrorism doesn’t really affect them.

It seems that most of those who are actually affected by terrorism or are viable targets didn’t want a repeat of 4+ years of Bush.

  11. “…even if it were true that more stupid people were conservatives than liberals, that wouldn’t discredit conservatism.”

This is the part where you explain why intelligence is not relevant to voting rights.

Two initiatives when the US became a Republic
1)Raise educational standards by building schools/universities so that voters will have better critical thinking skills to decide on important issues
2)Foster Patriotism and the want for the greater good, so that voters will vote for what’s best for the country, not them.

Years later, the average american education is good enough for a job at Pizza Hut, and that’s about it. As for the greater good.. Politicians all over the world are exploiting their citizens’ ignorance on Economic affairs to essentially buy votes, all the while, taking in bribes from corporations and doling out tax cuts to the rich, which they ‘insist’ will fuel the economy.

    I digress,

Well… you mention diversity as if it’s a bad thing.. ahem.. Face it.. the Bible whackers who have no real reason for voting won W the election.. These are the same drones that listen to Creed ‘just because it’s Christian…’

    Separation of Church and State..

Enjoy your imaginary Medical Plan boys and girls…

  12. Welcome to the Christian Fundamentalist States of America. The Land where even ‘to think’ is to ‘think different’ and difference is a crime against God. The Land where half a billion inbreds and cow-shaggers worship at the alter of the American Dream which produced them.

Europe – sit back and enjoy the ride as once-great America eats itself (super-sized, of course).

  13. I voted for Bush. I am educated, I live near a potential terrorism target (Washington, DC), I am an agnostic. I can’t believe how elitist the liberals on this page are! Isn’t it possible that several million people carefully examined the candidates platforms and came to an educated decision about who they thought would better lead our country? Isn’t it possible that the ‘automatic’ christian vote for a republican candidate is partially offset by the same ‘automatic’ votes cast for a democrat by the minority population? I am an Independent and I believe that President Bush has a better plan to protect my family and my job. Just because someone thinks differently than you doesn’t mean they are an idiot. It’s time to come together and support the President. Just my opinion. I’m a registered independent by the way.

  14. A democracy with two parties, yeah right. You can go right or left. America is one of few countries that only have two parties, in most other countries you can actually vote for the party or person you really like. America needs a solid third party.

  15. i’m by no means an automatic democrat or a far left liberal, but i’ve just spent 4 years NOT supporting this jackass, and i’m a little peaved that i’m stuck with 4 more. there’s not a chance in hell i’m getting behind him now any more than there was a few months ago. i (like many kerry supporters, i would imagine) voted AGAINST bush.
